And the other news is....
So what else in the news today to lighten things up?
800 Marconi staff cut in shake-up
'Pope's car' sold for huge price
Ruth Kelly's office is attacked

Well I thought it may provide a little light relief from the political post mortem out there! Mind you, trying to find non-political news isn't easy.

Thanks Olly
As an ex-Marconi employee, it's a bummer for the friends I have still there, but I'm not really surprised.....
...and now for the weather.
It's sunny here in Eastwood, Notts, and according to my desktop weather bar, it's 9 degrees C with a WNW 21 km/h wind. Temperatures expected to reach 12 degrees C later

Aye, don't you recall the speed limit thread of the A610?
Still not seen you on there, but then you admitted that you are the other person that adheres to the limits, so in theory, we should only ever see each other waiting at one of the exits Will have to meet up for a lunchtime drink sometime and put the world to rights
It's 11 degrees C now

Mind you, if you work in Eastwood you are more likey to be going the opposite way - I work in Bilborough. Mind you, I peel off by Ikea now and cut through the back way through Awsworth and Cossal. It's actually quicker as well

I take it you come from the west then and come off at Ikea? I come from J26 on the M1 and exit the 610 on the Ikea exit....that would leave us a very narrow passing window
Do you hit that wicked hairpin on the Awsworth - Cossal road (after you have left the south side of Cossal)? I'm soooo tempted to boot my likkle MR2 round there sometimes, but too cautious on whether or not there is oncoming traffic (older = more sensible ). I occasionally head that way into / out of work as I live near J25 on the M1 and sometimes fancy some nice bends on the way home

In fact, I might head back that way tonight. If the weather holds up, I can drop the top and go for a country cruise

Oh yes...and how many UK jobs are going IBM.
Rather slick and unsuprising the large corporations announce the job cuts right on the election days whilst the majority of eyes are turned - bravo!
I wonder how many others are itching to cut jobs...just waiting for a big news story to pop up to give them the right opertuninty?

There are mutterings at other places as well - the economy can only be proped up by borrwing for so long before people start wanting to be paid back. If people have to tighten belts then they buy less and manufacturing suffers, luxuary goods go first. I won't be at all surprised to see unemployment on the increase
