Looks like another win for Blair according to the exit polls!

Will be blood letting in the other two parties, and rightly so! Opposition leaders are proper toss.

Well as expected then, at least we get to see them have to deal with some of the economic mess theyve created - thats some consolation. They cant keep borrowing and raiding pension schemes forever to make things look rosy to the average braindead brit.

Oh and to anyone who voted Labour!!! Life on the scrounge wont always be this easy, take my word for it!

Perfect example of why Labour are back in - economy is in great shape isnt it!! Just ignore the 40billion taken out of pension funds through increased tax, the massive government borrowing, all the extra stealth taxes and the 1trillion pounds of consumer debt!

Its like taking money out your bank account to prop up your income - you cant keep doing it forever, and when you need that money later on you'll be screwed. This is essentially what Labour have been doing, and it WONT last.

Good news!

Now the Government can get on with running the economic powerhouse that is the UK. You've never had it so good!! ILO unemployment is at 4.8% and long may it continue!

Lowest stable interest rates for forty years, consumer confidence for spending, low unemployment, minimum wage etc.

Do you really think immigrants from around the world would be flooding to a country up **** creek economically?

The Tories plan for stopping immigration would be to ***** up the economy which they would have done.

Seem to remember high govt borrowing under Thatcher/major too, massive unemployment, stupidy high and fluctuating interest rates, black monday, wednesday, ERM shambles, political control over interst rates, massive levels of repossession, no business or consumer confidence, the list goes on. Singing in the bath chancellor when the house of cards was collapsing. PMSL

If the tories got in the stock market would collapse.

Stealth taxes, anybody would think its a Labour thing, VAT anybody? And the whole list of tax rises uner the last Tory govt

Lowest stable interest rates for forty years
Probably a little too low, see article from BBC today entitled "Britain Braced for Credit Crunch" http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4514207.stm

"a surge in the numbers of people unable to pay their bills.

At the same time, according to official figures nearly 26,000 property repossession orders were granted in the first three months of 2005, the highest number since 1995"

consumer confidence for spending
See article "Twin Blow for the Economy"
http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/b...07?source=This

"Retail sales suffered their biggest fall in April since Britain was mired in the early-1990s recession"

Do you really think immigrants from around the world would be flooding to a country up **** creek economically?
Nothing to do with it being one of the most generous for handouts Im sure.....

I could go on, but no doubt its a lost cause!

Better Hospitals

Better schools

Highest average wage ever

Minimum wage

Children brought out of poverty

Looks like most of the people know the above is true and would be ruined under the Tories!!

Orders but not actual repossessions. Go back a few more years and at the peak wasnt there around 70,000 a month acutal repossessions in the early 90s?

Please do go on. based on your efforts so far youve not made any credible arguement at all.

Havent got time or the inclination to go into the rest of your points, but the words flimsy and google cherry picking spring to mind.

Everyone knows that Labour inherited the prostects of the economic conditions Britain when they came into power. Global economic conditions back then has been growing and this allowed Britain to follow suite. However, while global econmic conditions have grown, the British economy has not been performing in comparision. Britain has fallen from 4th to 9th in the World Economic forum ranking since '97. Economic growth has been slower than when the Conservatives were in power, Britains share in world exports have fallen, inflation is above EU average, savings ratio is lower than under the Conservatives, taxes have gone up and so has red tape and regulations hindering businesses.

Global economy is now starting to look less rosey, so what iss Brown doing to protect the economy? not a lot, increasing spending on public services where a lot is wasted and with no improvement in these services, only increased bureaucracy. While most finanicial institutions see the economic growth slowing down, Brown has based his spending on a sustained economic growth.

They are talking to people around the country and the message is the same ....

They would NOT vote Tory - they don't want Labour - but want the Tories LESS!

Therefore vote for the LibDems where they can keep the Tories out!

i cant understand why some people are so blinkered to how bad the tories actually were when in power.Unless your one of the people that made mega££££ as the south of england got richer and the north fell into poverty and mass unemployment..
Suppose it depends where you live and if you tasted silver when ya was young.

I will never vote tory..My father, mother and older brother all lost their long term jobs, and i started to look for work(which there wasnt any)..and ended up working on a YTS for £24 odd a week..60p an hour or thereabouts...
All my friends at the time did the same..it was dire....Certainly leaves a bad taste in the mouth for later years..

Thing is FSF, you *could* argue that it took guts for Maggie (along with all the associated hardships, granted) to transform the economy, into the relatively well-oiled machine that Lewis et al now crow on about.

But then you'd never allow yourself to see it like that, would you?
