Cheap mountain bike reccomendation?

Need to buy a mountain bike, only to use about Three or four times a year, maybe only once or twice! I'm only looking to spend a couple of hundred quid, obviously not worth spending anymore for the use it'll get!

What should i get/what features to look out for/where to buy from?....i know next to nothing about bicylcles

What are you planning to do with the few times it sees daylight? Huck it down a big hill or pootle down a towpath?

Ride around some country parks, down some quiet country roads, through some woods, down some lanes..nothing too strenuous

Have a look here http://www.paulscycles.co.uk/index.shtml the nearest to your budget is £230.00 but at least you'll be geting some reasonable quality, other way is to go for something second hand, but it could have been ridden hard. Have a look around you might be able to get a reasonable ex hire bike, though we are probably at the wrong end of the season. I wouldnt recommend the Aldi, Lidle Hahfords full sussers, they will probably just get you arross the car park.
