I was interested, but not surprised, to see that not one report of the ceremony, or the original battle and it's losses, pointed the finger at who treally pressed for this attack to take place, dispite being told it would be a bloodbath and achieve very little.

A very well known figure.............

Not to my old boy, he's not My old man is 91 this year, and was with 83 Pathfinder squadron during WW2. You should hear him talk about the "saint" ............and a few others.

and it was Winston Churchill who pushed for the attack - the whole bloody campaign was a ****-up even BEFORE the start!

Short memories some people have.
Just look at the way the pensioners are treated today and the things that they have done for this country makes me sick.
they shouldn't have to pay for half the things that they need for a comfortable life.

I assume that you'd worked out that's who we were talking about. And his tactical incompetance didn't end there: read the books "Churchill and the Generals" and "Churchill and the Admirals" for more scatter-brained stupidity he came out with. For a real hoot, look up Operation Catherine.
