if it was face on then no it cannot be used, gatso's can only be used to get you from behind...no matter wot markings are on the road

Truvellos can be set for oncoming violations from either side of the road; GATSOs can be set for oncoming violations but they dont have Home Office approval so unless the Camera Partnership is particulalry enterprising, you shouldnt be prosecuted. Youll know which type it was Im sure as a GATSO flashes twice whereas a Truvello device flashes once and there is a strong pink tinge to the flash.
Hope this helps.

I think I may have set off an oncoming Gatso on Friday evening. It freaked me out a bit, but not half as much as the Scooby Wagon owner who was about to pass it in the opposite direction. I think he/she braked a little excessively when the road in front was suddenly lit up, and there was no one there...

Its a gatso.
A very profitable gatso from what I hear! However, if you are past the hook 'underpass' section before the flashes started then you are OK - don't forget there is one pointing south at Hook!

but as you ask,if this camera flashed twice then it is definatly a gatso, gatsos CANNOT be used to get you from the front, the home office has not approved it therefore no partnership can use them this way.
if it only flashed once then it was a truvelo, these can only be used to get you from the front, and NOT from the rear.
