If you can network your pc I recovered data from a crashed hard drive by using knoppix (sp) because you boot from cd and there's no operating system required I networked a drive to another pc and copied it across Job done.

Can't help you with the video though

Thank for your help guys, not bothered about hard drive it was a slave drive that I was using to back up my media but hey I didnt duplicate the video folder
