I'm not going to say that I put £1k EW Bet on last night at 10:1 - that was a £2k Bet - pays out £10k I do believe??
But I won't say anything as you all just think I'm showing off!!
The bet on Labour to win is the best bet in recent weeks

If I knew what I was actually doing, just imagine how well I would do!!
I just automatically thought that £1k to win at 10:1 odds meant I get back £11k? Maybe some quirk in the betting thingy then to get £14500??

So? I pay £2k to get £2.5k back?? Surely thats not right? I thought £1k went on a win and the other £1k on a place?
I never bet, only on some things like Elections/Grand National/Boat Race and stuff as a bit of fun

2k split into 2 bets:
1k win bet @10-1 = £10000 +£1000 stake = £11000
1k EW bet @10-1 divide by 4 for a place = 2.5-1 = £2500 +£1000 stake = £3500
£11000+£3500 = £14500
1k win bet @10-1 = £10000 +£1000 stake = £11000
1k EW bet @10-1 divide by 4 for a place = 2.5-1 = £2500 +£1000 stake = £3500
£11000+£3500 = £14500

Just because someone doesn't follow the 'accepted' rules at all times doesn't make them a troll .............. why can't I punt a couple of grand on an annual horse race - I have for as long as I can remember (of course, way back in the 60's it was only a couple of quid).

I put £2 each way on Clan Royal & Hedgehunter. Was gutted when Clan Royal pulled up due to the 2 riderless nags but that soon gave way to a spot of manic cheering when Hedgehunter left the others behind in a trail of dust.
I think I will get back about £30 if my calculations ae correct - not much but it will pay of my original stakes and buy me a pint!

Managed to pick the one horse destined for the glue factory in the office sweepstake....oh well, at least it wasn't first out of the race although it didn't make it to the end
