Wink So, How long will this weeks Minutes Silence be?

Seeing Ken bigley got a two minute silence, for being Liverpudlian and loosing his head.

How long will the pope get?

An hours silence, no lets go whole hog and make it a days silence....I have a headache and could do with some peace and quiet

It's an interesting point though. 1 minute for Remembrance Sunday, 2 minutes for Bigley, 3 minutes for the Tsunami victims.

Who decides how much silence someone is "worth"?

No disrespect to the Pope at all by the way. IMO he's "worth" more than most so I'll probably observe whatever is deemed 'the right amount'.

Partially the point, when I ask how long will the minutes silence will be...it should be a minute.

But then these days the powers that be seem to think a minute is longer than 60 seconds

Maybe it will; be related to the calculated number of votes they can get out of it!

Must have missed the bit about the stupid scouse git getting 2 min silence. He wasn't even worthy of 1 second let alone 120. anyway, I digress. The Pope should get the standard 60 seconds, as should anyone else, thing is we need to decide who is worthy to actually get the 60 seconds.

Some scouse fool who knew the risks but ignored them? Nope. A bunch of people killed by a tidal wave? hmm, no, I don't think so. The Pope, quite possibly. Those who died serving our country in times of war, yes, without a doubt.

nowt wrong with being scouse....thanQ. As for ken Bigley, fair enough, dont really see the logic. Lots of people have died in aid of wars , or related issues etc.

So every 'do-gooder' that dies, now gets a minute silence ..??

As for the Pope, im not catholic, so he wont be getting any minute silence from me .. no disrespect to the guy, but he doesnt stand for anything in my life.

my dad died 25 years ago, and he didnt get a minute silence.. but from me, he got an hour of quiet thoughts, on the day and hour, by his graveside.

all down to opinions i guess..

I was making reference to Bigley being a scouse fool, not every person from liverpool. Calm down!

Personally don't see why an idiot who knew the risks, refused protection, ignored the advice to get out and then subsequently is kidnapped and murdered, deserves a slience at all. If he had been some great leader or something like that, then maybe, but he was your average Joe, who did not do anything exceptional by anyone's standards. So he got his head lopped off, hmm, that happened to a lot of innocent people in Rawanda, you don't see a silence for each and every one of them.

Anyway, major digression from the topic under discusssion. I'm Catholic, will I be observing a silence, no, don't think I will. He's a man, he died, he does not effect my life.
