Firstly, jump into windows explorer and see what drive letter the ipod shows up as. Then you'd select 'run' from the start menu and type chkdsk <driveletter>: so, if the ipod is drive F you'd type chkdsk F: then hit return and it should check the ipod

Chrome,
Try a hard disk scan (instructions at http://www.methodshop.net/mp3/ipodsu...de/index.shtml) or use the iPod Updater to Restore the iPod's software if the problem persists. You'll need to reload all your music if you do a Restore

Brad, when the ipod is connected to the PC, the PC just sees it as a removable hard disk.
When its connected, go into Itunes, and enable hard disk mode - this stops the ipod disconnecting when the sync has completed within itunes.
Then - go to my computer, right click the ipod, click properties and go to the tools tab.
Run the error-checking tool (chkdsk) and it should fix itself.
Failing that, use the Ipod software restore utility, and just re-sync all your music.

I've had this a few times. If you ignore it it goes away, or you can run a scan or re-init the iPod. Its not a major concern, it just means the computer cant read your Play Count file.

Do a search in the 'Computer Related' forum, someone had this problem and fixed it recently. I think if you download/install the latest version of the iPod Updater software from Apple then do a full re-flash then it should sort it.

From what i've read, even if you perform the chkdisk the problem can manifest itself again. So don't worry too much.
For more info, check www.ipodlounge.com, specifically....

ipodlounge is generally useful though.
