There's a Premier Lodge (IIRC) right in the centre (opposite side of the river to The Boat) that's spot on but you'll need to book in advance.
Thats assuming you just want somewhere to sleep/drag a local bird back to

Loads of hotels down Osbourne Road in Jesmond, about 2 minutes from town.
Quick Google will get you results
For a nightout the Bigg Market is full of teeny boppers and is fairly grim
The quayside is your best bet with decent bars and a few clubs.

^ Ditto.
I'd also recommend Jesmond. Lots of hotels/b&bs/bars/restaurants practically on one street. Then 5 mins on the Metro (bear in mind the last one back is usually 11.40ish but it's about a 20 min walk or not even a 5 min taxi ride) I'd agree with Richie/Mike head to the Gate or the Quayside. You could also book a hotel in the city centre, quite a few to choose from but some may be quite expensive like the Copthorne on the quayside
I'm sure someone posted a link on here not so long ago with a full guide

Jesmond is where I am all the time and loads of hotels up there. Kenilworth Hotel amongst others. Can get the Metro in which is 2 min walk from Osbourne Road. Depends on what day you go but Tiger Tiger/Blu Bambu etc are all top places for a night out
Hands off my girlfriend though
Fantastic night out!

Sunderland does have its bonus's though. Loads of pubs and clubs all relatively close together. No need for taxis moving between pubs etc they are all within walking distance. Plus there is a travel lodge pretty much in the centre of the city which is also only a short walk from the pubs and clubs.
pub called Idols also has some rather tasty scantily clad bar maids.
But to be honest I don’t think it would be as good as Newcastle for a stag night. Newcastle has allot bigger pubs clubs with more places to go and things to do.
Only reason I prefer Sunderland is im lazy so don’t need to walk very far from one pub to the next as well as the fact im a mackem and hate Geordies o my opinion is rather biased.

Yarm itself is pretty good. Looooads of pubs all on the High Street. Trendy bars, quaint pubs, its got a good mix. Then head up the road to Tall Trees and stay there for the night at its hotel. I dont think its cheap though. Only thing that Yarm doesnt have to the best of my knowledge is strippers.
Saturday, as mentioned loads of restaurants and hotels on a main road on Jesmond, cant think of the name though, although my mate lives on it he loves it there. Student as well, god knows how he affords it. Then later i would go to the Quayside.
You're pretty much spoilt for choice on Newcastle to be honest.

there is plenty of travel lodges/premier lodges on the gateshead side and only a couple of miles from city centre. id go to either the big market or the quay side both are good nites out. cant go wrong with any of thebars so no point in saying which to go in, if your into dance get yourself into liquid liquid (its a bar) ou wont believe how loud the music is in there from standing outside

big market is a bit **** IMO
sum drunken bell-end used my spoiler as a hand rail while crossing the road last friday night
as said above, quayside is a bit better, only did the gate once, not really my scene (think we went to mood or sumthing??)
never been to liquid bar for a long time, but a mate of mine runs a night there every so often called twisted logic which seams to be doing pretty well

Newcastle is my playground most weekends, here's a run-down...
Jesmond - (Stage 1 - afternoon session)
5 mins from city centre and nice place to drink, in the afternoon build up to a night of debauchery. Lots of small hotels and friendly street side bars. Cricket and tennis clubs on your doorstep. Metro link (to city centre) at end of street.
The Gate (Stage 2 - early evening session)
Good place to start off the evening - upper part of town - plenty of everything, including mutli-plex cinema, restaurants, bars, and a decent nightclub called "Mood". When completed, place beer goggles on head and walk downhill towards....
The Bigg Market (Stage 3 - getting slowly bladdered session)
Home of the impressionable, short skirted, bra-stuffed teenage bird. Lots of everything - bars, take-aways, cheap restaurants. When done, proceed further down the hill to...
The Quayside (stage 4 - nicely toasted session)
Where everyone tends to head to - tons of bars, take-aways, restaurants, night clubs and hotels. Be warned the hotels here aren't the cheapest so pulling some minger and dragging her to The Hilton isn't always the best idea. Do her in some back alley, rejoin mates and continue to...
The Quayside, Nightlcubs (stage 5 - still standing and want to go clubbing)
Buffalo Bills - abba medleys, fat birds, old blokes in dad shirts
Julies II - r&b, decent birds
Baha - young birds from the Bigg Market
Sea - the more "sophisticated" experience. Spot the Newcastle United player.
BEST TIP: PACE YOURSELF - ITS A LONG AND VERY ENJOYABLE DAY!!
