Thumbs down Blair Pays Lip Service To Oliver

Well here it is, it’s now on the record. In a sickeningly hypocrital statement Blair slimes his way onto The Jamie Oliver bandwagon.

The Prime Minister was on a visit to Highnam in Gloucestershire, when he was asked by 11-year-old James Kneen what could be done to make his school meals better for him.
"We are working on trying to change school dinners," Mr Blair said.
Talking about Oliver's show, Jamie's School Dinners, Mr Blair said, "It's very good and shows what can be done.
"We are setting up an organisation that is going to help advise schools on how to improve their meals.
"We need to give them proper equipment to help cook meals in the school instead of buying frozen food. It is actually very important."

The usual fine words (read – pack of lies). As usual Blair talks the talk and tells everyone what they would like to hear. But, will this translate into any action actually being taken? Of course it won’t. This is Blair talking.

And as always the sheep that follow him will unfortunately believe him as well.

I'm coming to the conclusion "Unclebuck" is a primitive script running on an old 286 somewhere, designed simply to link news articles and choose from a table of pre-generated "the government's $hite" style messages to accompany them.

Yet another news grabbing chattering classes appeasing soundbite from B Liar, if JO had not made the series highlighting the shyte that is fed to our kids then this would not be an issue.

Exactly. Classic Blair. Classic New Labour. Just empty rhetorical sound bites. It has no more value than the Turkey Bites they feed to the tiny children.

i think we should be allowed to cook real food at home for the kids and they can re-heat it in a micky wave at skool, that way at least you know what they are getting

my daughter starts skool in september and i am not going to give her a packed lunch 'cos they all swap with each other and then their main meal of the day is wseets and crisps it is unbeleivable what parents pack in a lunch box

dont know what i am going to do

Do as I have done and tell the school that your kid has special dietry needs and can only eat the food you give them. Nothing wrong with a child taking in some home cooked chicken or tuna and pasta with vegtables and eating it cold. When I prepare my kids lunches I ensure that there is at least two fresh fruits or vegs that I know they will eat. If they don't have the option of junk, and they are hungry, then they will eat their lunch or go without. They soon learn that it is better to eat than not eat. I don't give them anything else to drink at school apart from water or diluted fruit juice.

The only action taken will be that Jamie Oliver is put on an MI5 list for 'special investigation'.

He is obviously a subversive, perhaps even a terrorist.

Jack.

This farcical "visit" was on the local news a bit earlier. Apparently all the villagers were kept in the dark about it except members of the local Labour party who were the only ones invited in to meet him and ask questions!

Lots of nice happy, smiley and staged faces beaming to the cameras under all the labour banners, missions statements and other paraphanalia... oh well... looked good for the camera then!

When challenged that the event was staged and that he wasn't exactly meeting "real people" Tony said "well I think that is offensive to the people who WHERE invited, who are very much real people"

Yes Tony... and can be relied upon to toe the line...

Ours? Do you own the school then? Perhaps though you are merely another half-witted and uneducated adolescent like pslewis.

They always have made sure that people who are likely to ask awkward questions are excluded from their show meetings. First sign of anything like that and the bouncers would be on the bloke immediately.

Nothing like preaching to the converted to make it look good.

i'm all for good food (mine eat chips once a week for a treat) but jamie's quote was that it would only cost 15 pence per child, per day, for what he perceived to be a decent meal. that's fair enough but when you have a school with 500 kids that equates to £375 a week which is nigh on a new computer.

given this kind of investment i'm sure that a lot of people/parents would criticise a school for taking food as a priority over essentials such as books, computers etc. as such i think that jamie has a point but he's missing the bigger picture.

my feeling is that most parents these days don't give a toss what their kids eat because food isn't generally a priority - hence ready meals sell by the truckload at tescos. in any case i'm shocked that most parents don't even ask their kids what they've had for lunch and if they did and kicked up a fuss then maybe the schools would do something about it. failing that then it's the parent's responsibility to feed their own kids.
