Acoustic Guitar Players, help!

Acoustic Guitar Players, help!
I *need* to buy an acoustic guitar
I have an electric but over the last couple of months found myself trying to play more and more acoustic songs with it but even with my effects i can't get the right sound
I've been searching around and i think i need to be in the £300.00 - £350.00 price bracket
The one that impresses me the most is the Taylor Big Baby great deep rich sound and an action to match.
A few peeps tell me that Breedlove also do a decent budget guit at around £300
Has anyone got any suggestions and where i can source a reasonably priced acoustic
BTW i dont mind 3/4 or 15/16 size but i do want an acoustic not and an electric/acoustic
TIA
Pete

I've got a nice rosewood backed Washburn. Cost was £400 6/7 years ago, maybe they make an equivalent now. Can also recommend Takamine if you can get one that price. Regardless, always have a go before buying, some people get on with some guitars and not others.

I was recommended a Simon and Patrick SP6 by a respected musician. Reckoned it was the best guitar under £1000 in his opinion.
You should be able to get one for £300 or less new.

I've been really impressed by Tanglewood guitars..
Now had 3 and although relatively low priced, they seem to hit well above their weight.
Alternatively Crafter are now making some nice guitars around your price range.
Good luck

You keep saying that Steve
My Dads got a pretty decent Yamaha electric / acoustic. It was arounfd £400 10 years ago. Yeah its great but it feels "tighter" than a full acoustic. Maybe it was a characteristic of the guitar or maybe coz it was Electric Acoustic
Power Junkie, the Tanglewoods are growing on me (through advice and looks wise) but just need to find some to try

SD555, Takamines and Taylors (although bottom end market) are affordable but a few peeps have suggested that they are overpriced at the low end scale ie £350 range.
A few peeps have suggested the Vintage 1500, Simon and Patrick, Tanglewoods and Washburns to get value for money.
Do you play? whats your thoughts on that?
Now ovation ive been told are good quality and reliable but nothing spectacular................... i dunno, maybe, maybe not

I'm sure any of the above 3 would be a safe bet, but as I'm sure you are aware, it's all down to personal taste/preference with an acoustic guitar. You would need to try before you buy and what suits someone, won't necessarily appeal to the next. For example lots of people recommend Yamaha but as good as they are, they seem to have one tone almost the whole way across their range, that just doesn't seem to appeal to my ear.
Last summer I'd given myself a £1,000 limit when looking for an electro/semi acoustic guitar.....
I hunted for over 2 months before settling on a Crafter Crafter Guitars costing just over £400 as it's styling, tone and action just seemed right for me.
I've also found some fantastic sounding nylon strung guitars in pawn shops etc. costing around £60...... probably heaps of junk, but they are well worn in and some have felt lovely to play.
This is why I tend to rate the Tanglewoods so highly. I think they match the tone (especially the bigger bodied acoustics) of guitars costing nearly twice as much. My first ever guitar was a Tangleweood that IIRC cost around £150 and although it's now used as a 'campfire/take anywhere' guitar with dents and scratches all over it, I still rate it as a pretty fine guitar and pick it up quite frequently...
Good luck with the search mate
