Talking can you freeze cheese

I know it may sound silly but been shoppin thought i needed cheese and didnt so now i have an abudance of cheese and even i cant eat it all in the short space of time so can i freeze it

Yes, no problems - takes a while to defrost mind..

NB - Only ever tried this with cheddar - not sure how stilton, camembert, brie etc might take to it.

I freeze milk and butter so i would have thought cheese wouldnt be a problem. The thing is though, that cheese doesnt really go off if left unopened. Its only when air gets to it that it gets hard and mouldy. I.e it might not need freezing just stored in a cool dry place.

Hiya Gossy, Yve here, if you wrap said cheese in foil rather than cling film, it will last much longer. Hard cheeses should be ok frozen but not soft cheeses, I think it changes them ? Into Vampires ? who knows .,........ Steve says hi .

Cheese may become crumbly after thawing so best used for cooking

The cheeses that freeze best are brick, Camembert, cheddar, Edam, mozzerella, muenster, Parmesan, provolone, Romano and Swiss.
