laser speed camera errors
Just a heads up as the BBC South West programme "Inside Out" will be taking a look at laser speed cameras at 7:30 this evening. I guess that people on digital will be able to get this programme no matter where they live.
I believe that one of the more entertaining moments in the show is when a brick wall is detected at 58mph. I believe it paid up on its fine to avoid a fuss and so it now has 3 points on its licence.

I watched this, then flicked to the same prog another region where a copper was on duty with the German traffic police seeing how the Autobahns work. When he came back he was grilled by the reporter "How come there are fewer deaths on autobahns where the speed limit is unregulated than there are on the roads in Lincs?".. He looked awkward before saying something along the lines of, "I can't explain that but the top line and the bottom line is that speed kills!"
Smug **** couldn't back up his statement at all and he was asked more than once.
At the scene of an accident in Lincs, at a notorious junction, where a car had pulled out in front of an HGV he undelined his statement with, "If this had happened on an autobahn at 130mph there would have geen no survivors, speed kills.".. Erm, maybe not looking before you pull out kills, I think, 1) It's unlikely that there are T-junctions and staggered crossroads on the autobahn, 2) It's unlikely you'll encounter an HGV doing 130mph anywhere! and 3) If you can't see a bright silver HGV coming you shouldn't be allowed to do 30mph let alone 130!
Was also interesting to note that despite it being a notorious accident blackspot and not forgetting that SPEED KILLS!!! there wasn't a safety camera in sight. (disclaimer - there may be one there but it wasn't seen on the tv footage)
