There are websites that specialise in identifying music from soundbites....
If I can find any I'll let you know....
Check adverts in mixmag or something like that, some you can ring up and play the track to them.....

I've got the 95 & 96 videos and also the cd of the 95 awakening
Those where the days, although probably couldn't take the pace now
All time fave song of that era was Scott Brown - Now Is The Time

Some folk I used to knock around with at school listened to that rubbish
I don't see why people enjoy it - listen to real music from 96 - like ocean colour scene

I used to dance to it, but I think at 31 I'd struggle a bit now
I occasionally listen to it now but that's more a 'blast from the past' thing
What do you like about Ocean Colour Scene? They never did anything for me
But if we all liked the same things the world would be sooooo boring

LOL 31? Yer a spring chicken!!
If we all like the same things, the world would be boring! But there would be less conflict and possibly no war
I'm a brit pop/indie kid at heart - always have been. I think it's a lyrical thing as well as a musical thing - They wrote about things I could relate to more than Toy Towns and shooting stars
I am 21 and the people I know who listened to rave music shop lifted, wore kappa tracksuits, had children at 15, got blokes names tattoed on themselves at 14 etc and i didn't want to be associated with that. It wasn't so much that we are a different generation from you as you are only 10 years older, but those short 10 years meant a difference in understanding of the rave scene. To you it probably meant going out to raves - the people I knew were too young for that, to them it meant sitting about peoples houses in high rise flats chewing holes in their cheeks (neds/CHAVS)!! I know it is a mahoosive generalisation, but i was only 14/15/16 at the time and these things kind of stick in your mind as this is when you are discovering who you are and your beliefs. I now think differently, but still can't help having a chuckle when I think back to those sad bastids from school I guess what i am trying to say is Rave means different things to different age groups (in the least offensive way possible ).
Also, I couldn't sit in and relax listening to rave music, or listen in the car; it would wind me up! I am sure when you were in your raving peak you liked listening to something a bit more mellow
ps: Off to see Ocean Colour Scene on 6th April

There there, I'm sure you feel better now you've got that off your chest.
For the record, I cant sit in and relax listening to Hardcore (you can drop the "Happy" tag now, the rest of the scene did in 1998 ) thats why I go to raves. By its very nature, dance music in general is lively and upbeat. Probably why they called it dance music .
And one last thing, I listen to rave music and I dont wear kappa, shoplift or have any children (and I'm 28, not 15). Try not to genrealise ravers as such and I'll resist the urge to pidgeonhole all indie fans as **** miserable self harmers who'd rather wear nothing at all than something that didnt come from Oxfam.
cheers.

ROFL
AB, did you skim read that? I did admit to it being a generalisation and also admitted to not thinking like that anymore

Whoops, nearly missed this thread! I got into hardcore a few years ago, bit late compared to some...I found an old Vibes & Livelee tape from 96 that just got me hooked. Started collecting it on vinyl - being a bar manager meant I had access to a nice pair of technics 1210s to practice on!
paul-s well done for getting Fly Away on vinyl mate...can't get hold of that for love nor money!!
Finally found a few ppl on scoobynet into this stuff too!
