Default idiot proof messages on brand packaging.

has anyone got the list of idiot messages companies started to put on packaging....it all followed the american 'sue for any reason' lawsuits that were ripe in the US a few years ago

i.e. do not put hot iron on hand!!! etc.etc.

The choke key on a (USA made) shotgun,

"Make sure gun is unloaded before changing choke"

I guess there must have been a lot of one handed Americans going round before this was put on...

New Scientist had a bunch of these a few weeks back - I'm wracking my brains, but the only one I can remember right now is the warning attached to a Superman outfit:

"Warning - does not enable wearer to fly"

Do not attempt to stop chain with your hands or genitals. --- Swedish chain saw
Having just come back from Sweden the above isn't as daft as it first seems!

The "Objects in this mirror could be closer than they appear" on the wing mirrors of American cars is very annoying

We also had a badly punctuated sign at work above the wash basins in the gents that said "For your safety the water is extremely hot" under which some wise guy had scrawled "so why are you trying to burn us then?"

A few years ago I worked on a contract at Britsh Gypsum. In the Gents, in one of the traps there was a tray of rat poison. On the back of the door it said "Do not eat the rat poison". Thanks for pointing that out !!! I'm always eating stuff I find on the floor whilst having a dump !!!

Noticed on a pack of those dangerously pointy cocktail sticks this evening.

"Warning - contents are intentionally sharp - Do not use for cleaning teeth or ears"

fer fek sake - teeth I can understand, but who would really consider cleaning their ears with a cocktail stick... (surprised it didn't say "Not to be used for removing contact lenses" )

I put fairy lights in the bath, so you have to be specific.

"Fairy lights for bathing and shower use only."
