Default Sky Plus

Hello

Having had Sky Plus for a couple of months now, I have to say I'm really impressed. I don't have much time to watch television (hard job, continually jet-lagged, young children etc..) but all I have to do is pick a few series I like (and maybe a movie or two) hit record and/or series link and that's it.

Then at 3am when I can't sleep, I always have something to watch.

No point to this post, other than if you are trying to decide whether to upgrade, the answer should be "Go buy one -- it's great".

Steve.

It's excellent. The only problem is my g/f records an idiotic show called Charmed which seems to be on twice a day

A complete godsend and makes you wonder how you managed before .
Well recommended..

It is great system but my one gripe is that you can't work with the Sky+ box at file level so any progs you want to backup/archive have to be played back, which means you can't use the box meanwhile and it takes ages.

We have had ours for a couple of years now, its irreplaceable. Just bought a DVD recorder to hook up to it, so when the hard drive is getting full we can off load stuff onto DVD for later.
The best feature has to be live pause. If that phone rings, we just press that and resume viewing when done.
And its so, so very easy to use.

I'm sure you know this but if you're not worried about your warranty you can replace the Hard Disk with a bigger one.

Live Pause / rewind is cool but series link rocks

Punished my 15 year old a few weeks ago by canceling the sports, we don`t have movies so that meant we lost the Sky+. The punishment lasted 2 nights.

They're truly life changing - now I program it once a week when I read the Sunday papers and I always have stuff I want to watch.

I've got 2 - one for me & one for the kids.

250Gb upgrade on mine though

Tivo ?!?!?

It's plain awful by comparisson - I had it before I went to Sky - the fact that Sky+ is an integrated solution makes it much easier to live with.

The only thing Tivo has in it's favour is it has better houskeeping facilities - you can specify how may episodes of a particular series to keep, but that's all.

Works with cable/terestrial/digital/sky

its better series linked than sky+

greater scope on wishlists

record by keywords, actors, directors etc

I have a network card fitted so I can update via internet

TiVo actually learns what you like watching and records stuff on its own for you to watch (thats the best bit )

Tivo sounds good, but Sky+ records the digital styream directly, so you get a perfect picture and surround sound
