Question Gps/sat nav software with full postcode entry - advice

As topic really!
I believe TomTom gps software only supports 5 digit/character post codes - is there a software package available which allows for Full post codes??

This add on for Tomtom does it apparently (works for TT3 too I believe as it's badged for TT2):

My mate has it on his ipaq. I've not got round to putting it on mine, but probably going to give it a blast tonight.

HTH.

Thanks for the replies (two excellent sites!)
I was hoping to avoid going down the 'add-on' route, but a 'goggle' search hasn't revealed anything suitable

cheers alan

On the subject of the TomTom software, can it be made to run on a normal PC or laptop at all? How about these addons?

I can vouch for the accuracy of the digitools.co.uk postcode database as I use it at work every week (royal mail)
for the first time ever, I actually made a paypal donation to someone for freeware, as I think its an excellent program. I'm using it with ttn v3 as well, and never have any probs.

lum, as far as I'm aware, tom tom is a pda ap, not a pc ap, you'd have to look at mappoint, destinator or ms software for a laptop.

I agree...I am astonished that this excellent "add on" has not been made a part of the original software in later versions. It works faultlessly for me.

I've seen a pocket PC emulator runnig on a PC, so you should be able to run it through that. Not sure where I've seen it though... I think it might have been on a mate's computer; it migh come with MS Visual Studio.

Well I'm not too bothered about it being TomTom specifically, however will this addon work with Destinator or any other product?
Also, how well will tomtom react to being run on a 800x480 screen as opposed to the vertical screen it's probably used to.

Ah well, it could go on for ever. I've just received a letter from the Ordnance Survey, telling me that they've aparently checked the data (yeah right) and determined that the data used for the postcode application is theirs.
Because the post codes are theirs, I am in breach of their copyright. I've been given the choice of either removing the postcodes from the web site or face legal action. So, regretfully, I have to remove the program from this web site.
I also have to remove all traces of the copyright data from my machine in order to comply with the request, so I will not be able to offer any further support for the program.
Did anyone download this before it went away, can I get a copy please?

Lum, I would remove that link you've posted if I were you, scoobynet are now in breach of the same copyright as digitools, by having direct links to unauthorised software.
If anyone wants a copy of the postcode finder, please request it by pm.
