Just had strange fone call
from Northern Rock, Asian guy asks for me personally (nothing against asians btw just pointing out this as I know they run call centres from india now) I say speaking. he says confirm address and postcode, which I do (although I feel a little peed off already) he then wants to know my D.O.B and I say no and hang up straight away....
the call may have been genuine but I didnt fancy giving out too much info over the fone to someone I dont really know and be sure of them being from northern rock (thats who my morgage is with anyhow so more than likely true) anyhow what I find annoying is they ring me at 7:30pm on a friday evening. probably wanting to give me a curtosy call. if its owt important Id rather they write to me and ask ME to contact them, not happy the way the call came over. I probably sounded really rude and arrogant but still I aint impressed. I did the right thing though didnt I? should I have maybe given the wrong D.O.B and see what reaction they gave on the other end? might have turned out to be interesting

I had a similar thing a while ago from a credit card company and again I refused to give out my details and they got quite agressive when I refused even though they were clearly reading from a script and didn't speak good english. At the end of the day if I want something I'll call them otherwise they aren't getting my details.

Odd, I'd be asking what exactly they wanted before giving out any details. If they can't prove that they know who you are and what your connection is with their alleged company, tell them to get stuffed.
I had an odd call on my mobile yesterday. It was a very bored sounding woman claiming to be from some telecomms company operating on behalf of 'the mobile networks', wanting to know if I was on PAYG or contract. She couldn't give me any more details of who exactly they were and what their connection was to my service provided (whom I didn't name), but just said that my number was on their database and they needed the information. I told her to remove my number from the database and hung up.
Any idea what they wanted or why?

Norwich Union Indian Lady ramg me up after I had let my Moror Policy lapse due to a big increase and me going elsewhere .....
"Mr Lewis, you have to renew your Insurance NOW"
"I have renewed elsewhere"
"What do you mean? you can't do that - WE are your Insurers!"
"Sorry, I have gone to Liverpool and Victoria ... they offered the policy for £80 LESS plus gave me Business Use Free and a lower XS"
"well, you are VERY naughty Mr. Lewis ... VERY naughty indeed ... why did you not tell us and we could have matched the offer, you are very bad!"
"Well naughty I may be, but its up to Norwich Union to offer the best deal as the first deal"
It was BRILLIANT!! You are very naughty Mr Lewis

A friend of mine bought a new 3g phone and had some problems when he lost his pin number. He phoned them to find a way round it and the indian call centre suggested in all seriousness that he tried REALLY HARD to remember it. Thats it end of advice.

they rang back today idiots, I told them what my password question was and if they told me the answer I'll quite happily tell them anything else they wanted to know. "we cant do that sir" was the reply. so I got a little mad (bearing in mind it was 9:30am and they got me out of bed ) so I explained they wasnt getting anymore info from me what so ever. they refused to write to me (why?) they said if I dont answer the questions they'll just keep ringing ??????? so I agreed I'd ring northern rock myself and we'll go from there. all sorted (sort off) still far from impressed
