Actually I have tried watching sailing, and yes I found it very boring.
I've also tried actually being on a boat and going sailing (sailed around the Scottish isles, starting from Plockton a few years ago with some friends in a single hull thing with a cabin, sails etc - don't know the technical terms), and I found that very boring as well.
Just doesn't float my boat so to speak

its a mindset thing i 'spose - not the quick fix youd get from say, sprinting round the track in a racecar..............................and rather more of a finacial commitment, generally

I personally find lazing around on a beach mindnumbingly boring after about 10 minutes, but millions of people spend every day of their holidays doing it.
Likewise, if I say to my friends that my idea of a good holiday is to get the boots on and go walking up scarfell pike in mid-February, they look at me as if I was mad
If everyone was the same, it'd be a boring place....

If anyone is interested in the outcome of Sports Personality of the Year 2005, i'm looking for 4/1 that she will be the winner. The outcome is in November. If you don't think she'll win, this could be the bet for you. PM me if interested, ta.

There's nothing quite like sitting on top of one of the big hills / mountains in the snow and ice, drinking hot tea / coffee / soup from a flask, with nobody else around, and stunning views. Personally I reckon the Lake District is at it's best at that time of year...
Can be a bit cold though

Great sense of achievement
I have also done a few of the pikes maybe not in the snow and also quite alot of snowdonia
I have a thousand and one stories about sailing trips and dont even get me started on greek islands cruising (best holiday ever).
Its a shame you cant appreciate both Ian.
If you had got more involved on your scotttish island trip maybe you would have enjoyed it more (perhaps i'm being unfair and you did)
but fir ***** sake let it lie

LOL - her own story! Lets face it shes had plenty of time to write it having been towed round the world by that helicopter for 71 days!!!
"Solo" round the world records - solo? tailed by planes and helicopters day after day, live video phone, radio, gps system, constant contact with an entire team of beardies back in blighty...
As for have I or would I do it - well no - I have a life I am quite happy with thanks - but if I looked like her I would spend lots of days on my own too...

A safe bet that she'll get an honourable mention, but that's all.
**Which, rather obviously, I have no problem with.
