went for my honeymoon in NY....apart from the obvious stuff...central park zoo was cool. we also got our wedding rings at tiffany which was a highlight and created a good reminder of the whole wedding/honeymoon combo.

Reminding yanks that it's been some time since 9/11 and maybe they'd like to stop harping on about it, especially as we've put with with terrorist bombings for a hell of a lot longer.
Oh, you want fun things? ok...
Boat trip round Manhattan Island. Central Park. Empire State Building. United Nations Building. Subway (best done at around 2am ). New York Public Library (get a picture with the Lions). Baseball game @ Yankees Stadium. Times Square.
Too many places to eat and drink to name them all, lol. Depends on fave food.

Helicopter tours are great
USS Intrepid worth a look, just punt your missus into a shopping mall whilst you wander around the carrier, sub and aircraft
Grand central station is worth a look round, along with natural history museum
Niketown store is huge, you have 10 square metres of space with one pair of trainers, next floor a nike vest LOL
Lots n lots n lots of eating and drinking places as mentioned
Empire state building is good, but loooong queues sometimes, wasn't as good as the World Trade Centre though (not that it's an issue now)

grand central is v cool. Don't miss the oyster bar and there is the *best* cheescake shop in NY ( IMO ) to take one away for later snacking ...
Guggenheim was overrated imo - but that could have been the exhibitions that were on at the time.
Don't miss carnegie deli

Get a bus pass and tour around New York in open top buses.
Empire State Building at night.
Night time carriage ride through Central Park.
Time Square at night (and you can watch the musical 42nd Street, on 42nd Street/Time Square)
The Stardust Diner in Time Square (for a proper diner food, with out of work actors/actresses working as waiters/waitresses who sing while you eat!!)
We only went for a long weekend, but here are some ideas and pictures from when we went in November.
We wanted to do the helicopter tour of The Statue of Liberty, but as my wife was 4 months pregnant, we thought better of it.

queues for empire state can be terrible (4hrs in daytime)
Dont be deceived that there is no queue at the top of the escalator- it can still be a 2 hour wait from that point once you go underground.
Get there about 10 at night, when it is quieter- you wont have to queue for long and it is worth it at night- i would post some pics, but andy tang beat me to it so no point now
I didnt make a plan as such- i just wandered about. Taxis are so cheap and quick i didnt even bother with the subway more than a couple of times.
I wanted to do helicoptor tour, but was too cloudy and foggy
Central park in the snow was stunning (wont be much of that for you in june methinks ), and try and get to a basketball game at madison sq garden - saw the knicks vs the bulls last month, and the atmosphere was amazing! I would suggest a hockey game, but the season is on strike, so thats not going to happen.
Dont forget to go to the visitors centre in bloomingdales ( 1st floor on lexington ave side) and macys (mezzanine level on ground floor on 34th st side) and get a visitors card- you will need to produce your passport for this! This card gives you 11% off everything in the repective stores for the duration of your stay, which basically eliminates all the tax that is slapped on everything in the city. Useful!
I was there for 6 days and there is still stuff i havent seen... i will be returning there soon. fantastic place

Supposed to be a cool pizza place over the bridge in Brooklyn, but we never made it there.
Dont bother with Carnegie Deli - nice atmosphere, but the food is overpriced and overrated.
Katz diner supposed to be good.

Its right by the river cafe under the brooklyn bridge- right by the waterfront. Cant remember the name of it.
About 2 mins from the subway.
Secret places?
Erm. Burger heaven on lexington ave (about 2 mins walk from bloomingdales).
Corner of spring and mulberry in soho- awesome pizza diner- open late too.
On Macdougal steet, again in soho - nice and romantic and very nice food in this little restaurant/cafe place- it might be called the Macdougal coffe house, but dont quote me on that.
the best places you just chance upon by accident- for food try soho/little italy/tribeca
Can you tell i like the place?
p.s- Iwan- emphasis on the ugly if you look at the staff at the new york one

Rainbow Rooms - 65th floor of Rockerfella Plaza. Can have a meal or just go up for drinks. Watched some of the Superbowl there last year.
Also, if you like blues, try BB Kings bar just off of Times Sq.

If you decide to go to the Statue of Liberty, be prepared to cue for an hour to get on the ferry, and another hour to get to the base of the statue - make sure you get in the correct queue if you aren't going right to the top. If you want to go right to the top (to look out of the windows in the crown), be prepared for another agonising queue of another couple of hours or more.

As far as i am aware, you cant go up to the top anymore.
As far as her feet is the limit due to 'security risks'.
not sure if its totally random- but you certainly couldnt when i was there recently.

"The Statue's crown and torch are not accessible."
I was very pissed off that i couldnt go up there!

Last time i went there I went to both the NYSE and the Nasdaq buildings, but they don't do tours any more since 9/11. Shame as the tors were both pretty interesting, especially being in the NYSE when they ring the bell to open trading.
I also have the dubious honour of going up the wrong tower of the WTC, then getting to the top and asking where the viewing gallery was, to be told "it's in the other tower sir". Which was quite amusing at the time.
Ugly or not, i'll be visiting Coyote Ugly and Hogs 'n' Heifers when i go back later this year, the trick is to drink mucho tequila.
Always wanted to visit USS Intrepid too, apparetly that's a good one if you're into military stuff.
