Bl**dy Labour nanny state

Bl**dy Labour nanny state
Just woken this morning to the news that co-proxamol is to be phased out because too many people are suiciding on it.
Well, isn't that just great? In order to protect people, many of whom will undoubtedly switch to something else, the government is to remove from the majority of users what is our only useful painkiller.
For those of you with knowledge of chronic pain, especially back pain, you will know that co-proxamol is perhaps the only reliable drug. It certainly is for me, and believe me I've tried others!
Whilst the wish to cut down on suicides is laudable, it shows that once again, Labour are doing something for the minority, while the majority can fukc off
God I hate those sanctimonious b@stards! I wish chronic back pain on whoever made this decision, so that he/she can lie awake at night wishing they had some release from it.

I've already written to John Reid asking him to explain how this decision is giving ME more choice in the NHS, their stated aim from today

Wonder what pslewis's take is on this. According to him, everything is rosy under NL.
Hope things get sorted for the sufferers, at least an effective replacement.

I use Co-Dydramol which is a strong painkiller and does a great deal for my back and damaged leg and wrist. Also on prescription of course. Maybe if the truth was known, Co-Proxamyl is more expensive than the others!

I have been in extreme pain through a back injury and took a drug called TILEX ( I think that was the name of it?)
They were so strong that they would knock me out for hours on end superb!
I am sure that you can buy the pills on a private perscription, so whats the issue?
Labour would be liable if they failed to act and would have to spend your taxes on compensation payments ...... so, what do you want??

Paracetamol is also very toxic in overdose. Infact for some people the amount that would kill them is only a few times above the effective dose. There is no way it would come anywhere close to being safe enough to be licensed today, yet people pop them like smarties. Also the most common drug used for attempted suicide. Probably another one for Tony's list.

It's the dextropropoxyphene that makes it so effective.
It's a mild opiate so CoProx is MUCH more effective than even full strength paracetamol.
My local chemist says LOADS of people will be put put by this news
They just have NOT thought it out............I once ran out while on holiday in France and suffered sleepless nights of pain.
Suicide, anyone?
And surely, if you take away the effective drug, people will attempt to control the apin with EXTRA paracetamol, so waht price accidental overdoses then?
Bl**dy nanny state!
Note the use of the word "some". That's because somepeople can't take it, it has no real effect.

"But some say co-proxamol is no better than full strength paracetamol at relieving pain and is known to be very toxic in overdose."

How long before yours go, because the suicides/accidental overdosers swop to those two?
And since it's the paracetamol that does most of the damage, why not ban that too?
Let's all go back to aspirin, shall we?
Or how about chewing willow bark?
Or even burying a silver penny in a churchyard at midnight
Bloody nanny state!

LOL!
I should add, however, that I don't want cats banned, that would be unfair on responsible owners. I want the uncontrolled release of cats prohibited (as all other non indigenous predators already are).
