What's the tradition regarding handing out cigars after a baby is born, is it still practiced etc?

Don't know, but you can't smoke the baby, so I'd give out cigars.

They don't let you smoke in hospitals anymore!

i would suggest that, since its now pretty much known that smoking will give you cancer or heart conditions that will leave your kids without a parent.....if it doesnt screw up their lungs first, people dont have a puff to welcome a kid into the world.

I would also have thought that the baby would be a bit young to start smoking...
