Default You wouldnt belive what was nicked from my work last night

a fooken £300 cctv camera

it was up a 20 foot pole with spikey bits
came in this morning to find it chopped down and the cam gone, i dont own the cam, the previous manager does/did

its hinged, and what you do is, fit a cam, send the pole upwards, bolt it and lock it and then weld the joins closed, i painted the pole when i first went there.
nothing looked out of the ordinary.

it turns out the welds havnet been "welded" for years, so a few choice cuts and the pole would hinge back down to earth, sumbody ovb knew this or took a chance or sumthing?

it looks like it was welded, and then sumbody broke the welds years ago, and its been painted over that many times scince you couldnt tell.

what i cant under stand is this....................
they bent the spikey bits so it would come back down towards earth and not smash my crappy solor powerd lights that are up on the fence

WTF IS ALL THAT ABOUT!!!?????

They didn't want to break the lights as they're coming back for them later, of course.

I remember a true story from a few years ago where theives stole a large computer server from a well known computer/network company. The truly audacious part was the fact that the server was in use at the time by all the workers in that building. The theives simply unplugged it, disconnected the wires, put it on a trolley and wheeled it out the main entrance. It was in a van and away before the employees could pick up the phone to the helpdesk!

Wasn't this the mainframe for New South Wales customs & excise, or similar? A classic heist, worthy of Ocean's 11. Police cacked themselves as they had all the drug trafficker details on it...

It was two servers if I recall. They posed as EDS employees, so probably blended in perfectly!

At my Farm, middle of the day, I was in my workshop and a Range rover pulls in and goes off up the yard, didn't recognise it..
Came back down with a Yank 4x4 attached to it (was in storage up there)
It stopped outside my workshop as I peered out the window, the bloke put his hand up and waved to me..

Ahh they've got someone to collect that thing at last (had been up there a while after I MOT'd it and it was found to be as rotten as a pear))
three or so months go by and I bump into the owner, "ahh while you here he said, I'll be round to pick up that 4x4 next week"...... you can imagine the rest..

No, this happened at SUN Microsystems in the UK. I think they kept it quiet at the time, it's a bit embaressing when theives walk off with tens of thousands of pounds worth of latest server technology from your own offices when the thing is actually hooked up and being used by your own people. I'd love to have seen the network support guy's face when he went to check the server....
