Electric V wet shave

Electric V wet shave
i bought a philips cools kin electric shaver before xmas....now i know you need to "get used" to it but it seems crap!
with a razor (mach 3) i can shave it about 2 mins, just run the blade under the tap and go...never bothered with creams and gels...never needed to....never had sensitive skin, always a perect shave.
with the phillips it feels like its ripping the hair out....really nasty feeling...it even drew blood!!!! i always thought "cut yourself shaving" was a myth....certainly never had that before......and it takes ages and still doesnt do a good job.
before i send it back under their "happy or money back" claim am i missing something???????

Hello
I never got on very well with electric shavers for the reasons you described: Took a long while and actually managed to cut myself (which I thought was impossible with an electric shaver!).
So I just use a razor although I have to use gel as well.
Steve.

If you're drawing blood with an electric then you are pressing too hard.
I've been electric for 13 years as real razors struggle on my bristles and its agony for 10 mins- but they do give a better finish.
If you can razor shave in 2 mins with no soap then I'd stick to that as electric won't offer you any benefits.

it's an individual thing. I've tried loads of lecky shavers and all of them left me with a rash and take 10 times longer than using a wet razor.
stick with my mach3 blades and proper shaving cream (not the foam/gel stuff).
I would send it back and stick with your tried and tested method.

I bought an all singing, all dancing version about a year ago and didn't use it until recently. I've been using it for about a month and apart from taking longer, it doesn't give as close a shave as the traditional method so it's really a case of trying to get some use out of it.

If it good shaving cream / gel you're after, I can strongly recommend Clinique's Aloe Shave Gel & Lab Series Shave Cream - the latter reminds me of some Eczema creams - its fantastic stuff.

Electric shavers will never give a really clean from my experience (I have a cool skin one).
Use a decent foam/oil/gel & a proper razor is fine.
The King of Shaves stuff is very good indeed

Lads,
My missus got me one for christmas. After the first time I tried it my neck was covered in a rash and sore for days. My old electric shaver never did this. My Solution was to just shave my face with the Cool shaver and then apply shaving foam to my neck and use my razor instead.
Overall I reckon they are a waste of money.
Gaz.

I got bought one of the Gillette M3 power razors for christmas
Anyone else get one or got one?
Do you think they live up to the hype?
Personally I find them only slightly better than the standard M3 razor
not really worth the extra £6 for the power version, and the heads are an extra £3 and from what I can make out they are the same apart from the colour.
Bit of a ripoff imo.

I bought an electric razor a while back - one day I saw a guy shaving with one whilst stuck in a traffic jam. I thought that would be handy as I can never be bothered to get up in time to shave before work. So anyway, I bought one for about £40 but it was absolutely useless. I had to go over each patch about 6 times and still ended up looking like the moths had been at me, rather than a proper clean shave.
I am still deciding whether to throw it away or donate it to the tsunami victims appeal.

Using a face scrub before applying the gel / cream helps - try the trevor sorbie stuff out of boots, pretty cheap and does a decent job.

the mach3 comes with a lubricating strip, so it's fine with water. I've done it myself when stuck and I've sensitive skin. Still prefer to use a brush and cream as I find it gives a closer and more comfortable shave.
It's not like he's shaving dry with a 14" Bowie knife

Mach 3? What a bunch of puffs!
I'm still using my old G11 razor, and it works fine.
It's the original too: it's had quite a few new blades and one new body.
Seriously, I do find that a "shaving holiday" is worthwhile, ie: don't shave at the weekend if you can get away with it.

I've used a Cool Skin for about 2 years now - only thing I'd replace it with is another one! The guy that sold me it did say that it could take a month to get used to it - although I thought it was great from day 1. Recommendation from Phillips is to do your neck first before the cutters start warming up.

Was that a Trigger from Only Fools & Horses joke alcazar?
I do either - wet shave with brush and mach 3 OR electric shave. Wet is better, but both work and both are a PITA (not literally though!)

I have sensitive skin - tried mostly everything but I've found the King of Shaves Kinexium shaving oil and the Mach 3 razor gives the best results. Shaving oil means you can see what you're doing as well.
