Question Urgent Holiday advice request

I just had a call from Thompson Holidays telling us (not suprisingly) that the Island in the Maldives that we had chosen to holiday on (Olhuvelli) has been completely destroyed and we have been given a full refund (very good of them I thought).
We have holiday booked for 10th January, and due to the nature of my job and the missus neither of us can change holiday dates. So now I am frantically scrambling around to find another similar holiday, so I am looking for advice.

We had booked a Water Bungalow and all inclusive package, which came to £1750 each. I am looking to spend similar, but if there are deals to be had at short notice then even better.

Can anyone advise on a location (not in the Indian Ocean vacinity).
One other criteria is that we are both wanting to dive each day on the holiday (the missus is PADI certified and I am 1/2 way through the course and intend to complete at the resort).

Any advice would be very gratefully received.
Thanks

How about the Red Sea? Egypt, Israel etc. Or maybe the med at Aquaba in Jordan?

Try Tobago. We stayed at 'The Grafton Beach Resort' and there was a PADI centre just a 2 minute stroll along the very beautiful sandy beaches.

It's a fantastic and unforgetable place - lovely people, good food and beer and fabulous scenery and only 8 hours direct by Virgin!

P.S February is a better time as they have a massive carnival then.

Red sea good choice for diving, might be slightly windy and choppy now.. was in Hurghada in September on all-inclusive with Hilton (booked through Libra holidays), check through either http://www.regal-diving.co.uk or http://www.libraholidays.co.uk (with goldenjoy diving).. Another choice for all inclusive could be sandals in the caribbean http://www.sandals.co.uk, scuba diving is included within the price of your holiday with sandals.. so no more to pay for daily diving. Are you at referall stage ?? you can take PADI courses at their resorts.. not sure what the caribbean is like at this time of year..never dived it, but its suppose to be very good.... good luck..

Cheers

Jim
p.s just remembered, as diving is a primary requirement http://www.divechannel.co.uk as a travel zone, also maybe Koh samui in Gulf of thailand, or try http://www.scubaboard.com/forums.php there are advertisers on there as well

Indeed, donate the money to the disaster fund and visit the Isle of Wight
