Depends what it is and how it has been stored. Even cheap non vintage champagne should last for a few years, laid down. If it's been upright next to a radiator then it may be not so good...

Champagne is ready to drink when it is released from the suppliers and does not improve with age. Non-vintage Champagne has a shelf life of two to three years if stored in a cool dark place and on its side.
Best bet stick in the fridge for a while to get it chilled and pop the cork for a taste
