Default Replica watches

I have had this hankering for a Tag Heuer watch for years, dont know why, I just like the logo and the style of some of the watches, besides the whole watch thing is bewildering, thats what I fancy so thats what I will concentrate on.

Anyway, havent decided which one but I thought before I start looking I should look around, looked on Ebay and there are loads and they look authentic, cool I thought, all the proper markings, fancy back plate, glass back plates showing the movement with the Tag logo, to my eye this was the real deal, didnt bid but put a search in for Replica Tag Watches on Google and a site comes up with replicas for about 179 us dollars that look identical, correct in even the smallest detail, it seems the dodgy replica market has come on somewhat since I last saw one, you know Rolexes without the sweep (cliche I know) and 'gold' that rubbed off on your shirt sleeve.

So, I think I may give Ebay a miss unless there are some sure fire ways of telling the real thing from the fake, no papers says fake to me but can the papers be faked ?

I am in geneva next month so are they a lot cheaper over there ?

Then again I might just buy another Accurist and save the money, nobody fakes Accurists !

And that makes me think that the replica might be a better idea, at least their site was up !

One site I know the watches are 140 & 240 quid. They look fantastic and quite a few of the guys I know have bought one. Whatever sails your boat I suppose.

hi mate.

Unless you know exactly what you are doing, I wouldn't buy a watch from Ebay.

Many high street jewlers will have second hand watches available which have been reconditioned for reasonable prices.

if you are going to Geneva, then yes, you will probably be able to pick up a nice watch much cheaper over there. Not sure about TAG's but I nearly bought an Omega Speedmaster the last time I was in Switzerland for about 2/3 the retail price over here.

Depends on the exchange rates, obviously, but there are deals to be done

Have used www.luxuryreplica.co.uk myself, as have friends, and no problems.

Like other posters say, E-bay can be a lottery, so for a few quid more, these top end replica sites are worth a look.

Remember though, however good the copy is, you will always "know" it is not real, so if you want a real one, a good second hand one from a local jeweller or from a specialist second hand watch retailer, would be a better bet.

hi mate the senna watch your looking at looks nothing like the real thing, I know because my dad has the real one, it says senna in the black back ground, its kind of embossed, plus it says senna in yellow iirc, imho that watch on ebay looks like a cheap five pound chrono from a market that has been messed with.

just found this on ebay funnily enough, but this is the real one.

real

fake no similarity at all imho!!

hope that helps, i know theres a lot of difference in money but simply not worth it.

If I was going to buy a fake, it had better cost £10 from a bloke on a beach. $180 is a rip-off for something that is self-claimed to be a fake!

Try this site has loads of info and a good forum.

http://www.replica-watches-guide.com/

This blokes website is well recommended

http://www.abay-eshop.com

I was looking into getting a replica a couple of months ago. But was put off, because nearly all replicas are not water resistant even if they state they are.

There have been a couple of senna versions- the fake is a replica of a different one.

I have an omega seamaster sourced by a friend in singapore- it is exceptional.... whereas the targa florio i have is not as good.

I was given a fake Tag years ago (hence my desire for the real thing), probably about 15 years, I wore it for a bit and then dropped it in my fish tank (cant think why but it seemed like a good idea at the time), it steamed up so my dad 'fished' it out, wore it for about ten years at all times, got the battery replaced twice and gave it me back when my mum got him a new watch, it always kept perfect time and still looks ok, I used to wear it when doing grotty jobs , its been dropped, battered, contaminated, submerged and hasnt missed a beat, battery went recently.

I couldnt have expected anymore from the real thing !

Jacko; Ive had quite an expensive Tag Heuer since before fakes were available; certainly common, and Ive looked at every one Ive come into contact with. There have been a fair few where their owners been adamant that 'you cant tell' but most are obviously poor from a casual look; and if not you only need pick them up. I havent seen a fake Tag that hasnt been totally pony and I must have looked at 100. Its up to you of course but the only half decent fake Ive seen is a Rolex from Hong Kong and you really did struggle to tell. One last point; a new 2000 series isnt that dear and if your look after it itll still look good in 10 years time so itll work out a lot cheaper than the endless ****-poor faux Tags that you will get through otherwise.

Went into the Jewellers in Wilmslow today for a leer, they had a superb selection, the lady came over, she was really helpful (and very very attractive), I explained that I was looking but not quite ready to buy (especially since my headgasket just went, b4stard), she got a couple out for me to look at and then sent me on my way with a big thick glossy Tag Heuer catalogue to fantasize over, my wife said I can have one for my 40th birthday, cheers, thats six years off !

Have you seen the seamaster copies in the flesh? Just wondered how good they are...very tempted...I've got a real tag 2000 classic, but want a watch for work...

To be honest, with the catalogue here the replica's look less than authentic, the logo just says 'Heuer' on the Monaco, it just has to be the Steve McQueen version.

the original genuine reissues had just heuer on the logo- they discontinued those very soon after release and switched to it saying tag heuer

shouldnt cost that much
In Hong Kong they sell bad replicas for 3 quid

The good ones worth buying are 17 quid.

Bought a couple of rolexes for 17 quid each 6 months ago. they sweep and are kinetic. Im well chuffed as they look great, appear good quality and seem identical to the original
Have a lot of choice out there, loads of rolexes, omegas and tags
