So its is safe to assume that its not worth more than £50 then.
Just point out I have not bought one.
A friend of a friend seems to be easily parted from his money....
Really..Not me I didnt buy one..

lol, looks like a rolex daytona copy that someones slapped another name on.
Sort of thing you see people selling at motorway service stations out the window of a saab/bmw/merc. They'll often have a flashy catalog that they've had made (or the people they get the watches from ) to show how 'good' the watch is. They'll also take out actual adverts in BMW/MERC magazines advertising the watches to add to their credability.
Prob worth about £50, or maybe a oner if its actually a semi-decent auto movement and not totally shambolic construction.

Just found this sounds like the scam you described.
Some People Eh! This muppet has forked out £1500 for 4. Was told they are worth near 5k. So He thought he was getting £20k of watches for £1.5k
And if he is lucky they are worth £400. One born every minute.
The Watch Scam: Claude Valentini and Krug-Baumen
26th October 2004
Ever been offered a designer watch at a knock down price? Watchdog has discovered a nationwide, well-organised operation headed by one Peter Wilkerson. He sells watches with fancy names - Claude Valentini and Krug-Baumen. Wilkerson also owns the trademark Aston Gerard, the brand featured on an earlier episode of Watchdog. The watches are said to be worth £400, but you can buy them for a tenth of that.
Peter is in charge of a well established company, Tetherfield Limited, which has a network of salesmen selling watches across the country. Except you won't find their shops anywhere. They ply their trade in the nation's car parks and use ads in glossy magazines to back up their sales claims.
One such magazine, used by the salesmen, is BMW Car Magazine. However they are using old issues. The magazine stopped taking the adverts in August 2002 after complaints from readers.
Ian Kaye, a valuation expert from Austin Kaye & Co Ltd of the Strand in London, examined some of the watches. Despite their expensive price tag he found they are basic Quartz movement "which could be made up for a few pence really."
Tetherfield Ltd refused to comment.
