Default Am I really stupid?

I asked by email why his 2004 quad was so cheap, he wants £1700 for it and its worth about £4500
and this was his reply?

Hello,

Thank you for your interest in this item. First of all you should know that the quad is in very good condition, like new, mechanically and aesthetically intact, no damages, no hidden defects, ready for ride, covered by factory warranty, it was used just a very few times (it has less than 40 miles), near a dealership for presentation purposes.
Although my ebay account was initiated in United Kingdom, I'm located in Italy for the moment and I'm willing to ship the item from here through Lufthansa Air Cargo and cover the shipping and insurance fees to your location. The total price is 1700GBP shipping included. The price is low because I had a great discount from my local dealer, and I thought selling this quad through Ebay would be a good idea.
I would like our deal to be supervised by eBay and Square Trade. I prefer to receive the payment by western union wire transfer and this way I can arrange the shipping the same day that I validate the transfer. In case we have a deal I will notify eBay transactions department so they can inform you about my reliability and how we can proceed with this transaction in a 100% safe way.
If you are further interested in purchasing the quad (it has a clear title) please let me know your position as soon as possible, to start an Ebay secure transaction, in which you will be 100% protected.

I'm waiting your reply in order to go on with this business,

-----

Taffy,

Sounds way to be good to be true, just bear in mind if you do hand over any cash, ebay, paypal, western union *none* of them will help you out!

Indeed.

I like the line "In case we have a deal I will notify eBay transactions department so they can inform you about my reliability and how we can proceed with this transaction in a 100% safe way."

E-bay inform somebody?

I was looking at an Audi A3 on ebay which looked like an absolute bargain. I asked the seller why it was so cheap. His reply was that he was in Italy, used to live in the UK, bought the Audi in the UK but couldn't use it in Italy. He wanted payment via Western Union Wire Transfer, his wife worked for Lufthansa airlines and could therefore arrange cheap shipping. It had scam written all over it, and sounds very similar to your response above. Walk away from it.

I have a few work collegues in Italy. Ask for an address and I can send someone to view it for you. That will soon tell you if its a scam or not based on their reply. If its legit go for a weekend break and pick it up.

BarryFudge?? LOL. Good one! Reverse psychology being used, surely?

BTW it's deffo a scam. My ebay customers have already had similar emails from idiots in Italy wanting a western Union transfer. I suspect the fraudsters are connected up between Italy and the UK.

From the very fact that western union charges are so high I'm sure they know their service is being used by lots of scammers.
