Question Weekend breaks in Paris - restaurant query

Booked a Friday and Saturday night in January for the wife (and me), and am asking if anyone has any good restaurant recommendations.

Our hotel is about 20 minutes walk from the Eiffel Tower..........

La fermette marbeuf just off the Champs Elysees / Rue Marbeuf

http://www.fermettemarbeuf.com/en/index.html

Expect to pay about £50 per head or more, try the filet of beef in a bernaise sauce washed down with a chateau neuf du pape.

I've edited it to give you an idea of the cost. For somewhere cheaper there's loads of ethnic restaurants in the latin quartier and you can get a great pizza/pasta at the cafes with the red canopies.

whilst you are there you have to go up it both during the day and at night, at night you should eat there too.

Thumbs up

I love the Latin quarter: if you can't find something to eat there, you just aren't hungry

If the weekend is to be a romantic one then dinner on a Bateau Mouche is a must. Quite expensive but worth it.

I can't remember how it's spelt but it's something like La Troumilou on the bank of the Seine just up from Pont Neuf near the l'hotel de ville. Found it in the Lonely Planet guide. Looks a bit tatty from the outside but I've never eaten steak anywhere near as good anywhere else. Very highly recommended. Last there in Aug 03, ate and drank for about £10 a head. Found the Latin Quarter a bit suspect on the food front, there's better elsewhere. Eiffel Tower at night is fabulous.

Anywhere except the commercial muck and glorified "Little Chefs" on the Champs Elysees.

Small brasserie's off the main streets generally serve up the nicest, most authentic food.
