Cool Orange,,, hard work!!! (but it payed off)

My contract ends shortly so i rang for an upgrade

the phone i wanted (d500) was available, but as i had not got to my contract end, (48hrs) they couldnt help and i would have to pay an upgrade fee.. (£50-£125)

so i left it...

I rang around, and one of the online companys had some in stock, but only on

02 (apparantly orange not out until new year) so i worked out the options and decided to go...

i payed with the cc cos i wanted a few extras, then it dawned on me i could take my number as it was a new provider...

the sales guy was very helpfull and put the order on suspend until i got my pac number,,,

so off i went to Orange to get my pac...

spoke to the gent at disconnections, explained why i wanted the number..
he asked what phone i wanted, d500 ...

no problem sir, i can do that .. and throw in extra free minutes, and no upgrade fee either..

phone will be with me on tuesday!!!

so i rang the online co back, and asked for the order to be cancelled,

they have stated that the money will be refunded, but i have no conformation of this..

still if they do send the phone i can return it under the 14 day policy..

anyone know why upgrade teams are so much hard work???

Mart

money, ie they want as much of yours as possible.

I rang orange tuesday to upgrade my P900 to the P910..

Spoke to upgrades, they said £249, I said I'll cancel and go elsewhere, they said fine. Got put through to customer care, instead of carrying on with cancellation they then amazingly found they could offer it to me for £139, I said no again (even though I'd have paid it as my p900 will fetch £190 or so on ebay), then got it down to £64.99, tried to have more off but they wouldn't have it so settled for that.

FWIW - in the last 9 yrs of owning mobiles, my upgrades have been easy.........

until this time - the provider fcuked it up totally Ordered (and recieved) my new Siemens S65s (x2).......on the wrong bl00dy network.

called them up again to tell them, and new SIMs were ordered. Only problem was that in the meantime, they disabled my existing SIM, so I couldn't use it in my old phone!!

Anyhoo, after complaining, got it all sorted...... almost.

Called up again next day to confirm that the SIMs had been ordered for both phones.... none were on record. I hit the roof!! After speaking the operative, I was told that the SIMs wouldn't work, as the phones needed an IEMI unlock - that could take up to 21 working days to appear I went ballistic.
Got my £200 upgrade fee refunded (thanks) and am now awaiting the code.......
Will wait until Monday, and then get a code from a elsewhere (if I can)

GRRRRRR now have no phones, as I'd already sold mine and wifey's mobiles......

Glad you got it all sorted out though

Dan

Been with orange for 8 years
Its amazing how getting transferred from upgrades-->disconnections can drop a phone from 199--> 10 quid, and get you a tariff matched from a different network , despite being told 5 minutes previously that it was unavailable!

If you are upgrading your phone, it is always worth saying you have been looking at other networks, as they will then offer you all sorts to try and keep you as a customer, there are some good deals to be had this way.

Same thing with carphonewarehouse.

Ring up for upgrade phone 6260. That will be £30 sir.
Err, O2 offering for free, so are others.
Sorry sir, £30 please.
End call.
Ring back, ask for disconnections.
Blah, blah, blah, I'll put you through to upgrade department.
I know have 6260 FOC, mind you after being on the phone for 30 minutes!
