Supposedly Anne Robinson has insulted the Liverpudlians again,by cracking jokes on The Weakest Link. (kids must get lessons in shoplifting they are so good at it,and others)
and of course public figures are calling for an apology, because this will undo all their hard work in 'changing public perceptions' of Liverpool and this will seriously damage Liverpool (quote)
COME ON!! WHAT A LOAD OF ****!!! I know what perception is,and that is famous Liverpool sense of humour has gone,if it ever existed. There is local pride and there is taking yourself too seriously, this is plain up-ya-own ***** syndrome,at best
get a grip Liverpool and have a laugh ffs,the only damage Liverpool will suffer is when no one will go there unless they are terminally depressed
I mean for petes sake,Billy Connolly went on stage and said he was fed up with Quigley and he wished the terrorists would get on with it.Nowt in the papers then, but joke about thieving and the cities future is being damaged??!!
deary me

Let Anne say it as she see it - I think its funny myself!!
Bunch a wheel trim robbin, trakkkky wearing fuzzy haired dole-ites who wallow in their own self pity

Some people take everything too seriously......
I don't think Ann Robinson's lived in Liverpool for a year or three though
Dunno if the Scouse humour works when it's aimed at them

Why do people asume all scousers have a sence of humour ?
Its a bit steriotypical dont you think ?
If shes slagging scousers off then shes giving the Welsh a break.

Got a best mate who has scouse roots but has lived most formative years in derby.
He is always banging on about how fantastic liverpool is and and how brilliant LFC are Blah blah......
he fits the scouse myth to a T thinks he has a brilliant sense of humour which is actually a boring and oft repeated routine of trite self depricating jokes and blindingly obvious puns.
Every time we bumped into a fellow scouser in a pub or as a ticket tout
If they turned out to be either not to his liking or complete tossers he would always say they weren't "real" scousers at all When they blatantly were

I think you'll find that it is Mike Storey (the council leader) who's kicking up a stink. I don't know of anybody else who wouldn't laugh off any of those types of remarks - especially coming from a ginger
A bit of over-generalising going on in this thread though - a handful of people come out and express their displeasure at scouse jokes, and all of a sudden the sense of humour all scouser's is called into question?! Bit silly that really...
And is was Bigley, not Quigley. I'm a big fan of the big yin, but that wasn't funny.
