We have both types in our family, i have the classic one which i think is fantastic, but the new ones is even better, better read out, more alerts, easier to mount and unmount etc. Very good!

Dont use a road angel myself, but I know mates with them (old style), and TBH I see little point. They only seem to warn against fixed cameras, which ok is handy, but not worth 300quid + 9/month subscription.
Mobile 'safety' camera vans are the problem, but they dont appear to detect these.

They have a laser detector as well. On the earlier versions of the original RA it was sold separately. The later versions included this as part of the bundle. Not 100% but better than nothing. I always found RA very accurate. Gives you a fair degree of warning and comfort when travelling through areas that you are unfamilar with.
