that radio show was sick - glad it was shown that they disapproved otherwise there'd have been an uproar.

They were invited onto the K-Rock radio show, where, and I quote from the presenter "listeners phone in with their problems, and we take the **** out of them".
The Darkness were taking the calls, and the very first call was from a 15 year old girl who had been raped and had bulemia (sp?).
Unsurprisingly they weren't happy. Justin Hawkins said it was innapropriate, and he wouldnt go through with crap like that just to sell records - he said the people phoning in needed genuine help, and didnt need to buy albums.
The band came accross as sincere and very normal blokes - I was impressed, so much so i'm buying their album this week.

I have to say as well, sod the critics, I've liked all of their tunes so far - they are different, and for me they hark back to the good old days of proper guitar rock and long hair.
It can be cheesy stuff, but its enjoyable music, and away from the normal tosh in the charts.

I liked them before watching last nights South Bank, but like them even more now, very grounded, intelligent bunch.
Whether or not you think they're a spoof band or not, Black Shuck is one of the best rock records ever, IMHO.

The Darkness Rock!!, I will be off to see them tomorrow night at Brixton Academy, saw them a couple of times last year and have to say they are without a doubt one of the finest live bands I have ever seen.( and I have seen a few). Check them out if you get the chance.

Must say I've heard a few of their songs and I like them! Glam Rock for the 00's! lovely!
Anyone happen to know the name of the presenter on the radio show phone in? That just sickens me that they would make fun of anyone, let alone some 15yr old girl. If it was a wind up then it's in very poor taste, if it wasn't then the DJ needs swift kicking and the station needs it's broadcasting licence removed.

Loved the way Justin interacted with the audience, ie talking to them, having a laugh, etc. And the tunes were even better. Havent seen another band that I enjoyed just as much.
Not sure if they will be as good in wembley, think you need a smaller venue like brixton.
Hope their 2nd album will be as good as their first, Not sure if thats possible though.

If I could think of a word worse than ****e, I would use it to describe The Darkness.
Like a bad version of Queen when they were really bad - but worse.

I always thought the South Bank Show was a credible "Arts" show!!
Nothing against the Darkness, they amuse me, but I would have thought a couple more Albums and some sustained popularity and then you might get a call from the SBS if Tracey Emin has gone Awol on a pissed up bender believing her own hype, <tangent> anyone see her on TL Allstars last Wednesday, what an annoying no talent biatch, your "art" stinks, make your bed you lazy cow!!
