I also want really good quality album downloads at least 312kpbs???

UB, please refrain from posting details of how to breach copyright laws on Scoobynet.

Don't know anywhere that does that. Most are 192 and up to 99p.

If you want them free then that's most likely pirated and most will be 128 - 192.

Just rip your own cd's.

LOL, you CANNOT download any popular music files for free and remain legit.

I'd recommend DC++ if you don't want to use sites such as iTunes.

Nope, not a link, it's the name of a usenet newsgroup. So you'd need a) a newsgroup reader, and b) your ISP to accept newsgroup feeds, plus actually carry that particular group, which I doubt it would, as it's probably deemed as "illegal" by the ISP.

You could use google.groups.com to have a peek at newsgroups.

There were, and maybe still are, some 'free' servers out there offering newsgroup access, as I was signed up to a few a couple of years back.

As for getting MP3's, well, legit, you're really looking at iTunes and the other legal versions out there. Only caveat with iTunes is the files you download are AAC encoded (.m4a) files, so you would need to convert them to .mp3 format, unless your CD player can handle AAC files.

If you have the songs you want on existing CD, then just rip and burn them.

If not, then it's illegal download time. Personally speaking, I download the odd song here and there (for example, I downloaded "History Repeating" by Propellerheads, thought it was ace, plus I also has "OHMSS" from the Dave Arnold CD, and this prompted me to go out an buy Decksanddrumsandrockandroll, so I don't feel guilty about downloading the song). As for what I use? Limewire or Aquasition. I'm on a Mac, so viruses and spam like stuff don't really apply to me.

Since when?

As far as I'm aware it's ok to record media that you've purchased onto any format you like, as long as it's for your own personal use.

I *thought* the copyright laws allowed you to make one single bacup copy of a CD? maybe that's only things like CD games?

When it comes to music downloading, it's not yet illegal here (Canada). Think it's something like, if you download the music for your own use, but you're not sharing it with anyone else or selling it on, then it's ok. It's the person who you downloaded the file from that would get into trouble.

Nope, youre not even allowed to copy vhs for personal use. Ok the law would turn a blind eye if it ever came up as part of an investigation I guess, if you can prove you have the originals, but it is still illegal to do it I believe.
