the ban on smoking thread reminded me of something I thought about today.

Zyban - does it work?

I know two people that have used it, one is my brother, he has stopped smoking, while he was on the treatment he was like an electric fart at work, he could'nt do enough ( he sort of works for me ), was like a breath of fresh air.

another guy that works next door says it did **** all and he still smokes.


there was another guy that posted on here the other day says it turned him into a raging maniac.


so, whats the deal? any opinions.

I know I should stop, but I do like my tabs. I stopped for about a week last summer and the difference was AMAZING, out of bed in the morning like a shot,sex drive went into overdrive, loads of energy and get up & go. I know the benefits of not smoking, its just getting round to it

My partner and her brother both stopped using this, but she did have heart palpitations and dizzy spells, she also felt sick when she tried to smoke another ***.

Few instances of seizures etc while on it (1 year mandatory driving licence being revoked if happens to you).

Mate went on it, and had major sleepwalking issues. Pee-ed in all the house plants every night!!

I heard about Zyban from a Canadian couple that my Wife & I met several years ago on holiday in Barbados. You could buy it OTC there so I got 3 months worth as I knew it wasn't available then in the UK

(I work in IT for Major Pharma Co)

My personal experience is that I used to smoke between 25 & 50 B+H a day and within 3 weeks of taking Zyban I stopped smoking and have not been a smoker for over 4 years.

I also decided to treat myself to a prize for not smoking.

I sold my Pug 306 XSi for £6K

in addition to this I accounted for approx £6 a day on ciggys which worked out at around £300 a month in total

With the money saved I bought my MY99 Turbo and enjoy it far more than smoking.

I also don't smell any more

My sister used Zyban and has not smoked for around 3 years now. Before its prescribed though, your GP will send you down alternative routes eg. Nictotine replacement therapy (patches, gum, etc.) and counselling ; zyban is the last resort AFAIK.
