I had to laugh, utter crap in my opinion. Think of all films they show with car chases/crashes, and then of all the people that die on the roads each day.

another pathetic public 'we grieve foryou too'. The story has sod all to do with a rail crash. It's very good, innocent children's story. Will this now hijack Remembrance Sunday?? Will the tv coverage (much as it is) of WRC now be cancelled as it promotes cars in the air, handbrake turns around hairpins??

Its the very same as the Black Watch Soldier thing - 'the country weeps for you' bollox that we seem to have got into!

Boris had it spot on - we are turning into a bunch of idiots ....... I sat amazed at all those people crying when Princess Diana died, yes it was sad - but Mother Teressa dies and *nothing*!!

Its about time we STOPPED it - lets start on SN ...... show our concern for those left - but, pleeeeeeeze - no more false pity and mourning!

Wink

the big question you all missed is

WHY THE **** DID IT WARRANT A REMAKE??????

was it to make it pc correct..

dad didnt go to prison, he was in bosnia ffighting for his country..

the only reason they moved house was due to the oppresive council who upped the poll tax to an umbearable level..

the son had an addiction to coke due to living in the big stack.. and mum heard that a country rehab clinic was opening..

the two daughters were on the game, so to make sure they didnt get the pox, she figured that a few sheep wouldnt do them any harm..

throw in a token black !!! a slightly subnormal person, one from a lower social standing (porter)

some petty theivery (pikeys excluded) a love interest a sugary pc ending

wait for it!!!!!

"daddy my daddy"

oh god wheres the Kleenex

and voila!!!!

right whats on next sunday then.

LOL

<squints> Bit bushy in the backround of the 1st pic?

Now I'm with Pete on this, except Fred Dibnah, as I really liked his programs. But I don't expect any huge tributes etc. Just an obituary and a sad thought.

Dianna, that hostage bloke, John Peele. To someone they mean something, but to many they mean nothing. So why should we all be dragged in with it?

IMO The biggest disrespect to someone is paying them respect on their death, when you never knew or honestly admired their work. Just because the circumstances was tragic or they were of massive celebrity status.

I feel very sorry both for the Black Watch soldiers who were killed and injured, and the seven who lost their lives in the rail crash. I find it difficult not to regret the fact that they have missed out on living a full length life especially when it was not their fault.

I see nothing wrong in expressing sympathy even if you did not know the person concerned personally. We are all humans after all. Seems selfish somehow just to write them off with a throwaway line.

Sympathy, Sadness, Respect - YES
Grieving for somebody you have never met - NO

It is very sad when people die. Some people are more important than others - for example John Peel will be missed by alot of fans, who will miss his radio shows. But I have to agree that public mourning for somebody you didnt know is wrong. These people should be in public mourning every day on that basis !!

I did also notice that C5 cancelled 'When trains crash' last night - which I can sort-of understand as being a little insensitive , but the Railyway Chilldren thing is just plain daft.

The Cross-Country lessons at school have been cancelled due to the fact that in The Railway Children its the cross-country race that harms the lad!

Personally I can only feel sorry for the families of six of those who died in the rail crash I struggle to feel anything but contempt for the self pitying ar5ehole who murdered them

What makes you say this? It could just be an accident. At the moment NO ONE knows. If it was suicide then feel contempt but until then......

With regards the program being cancelled, I think it's a bit of an over-reaction. Fair enough if it was a film about some kids being killed by a train or about a train accident.

The train crash is about 3 miles away from my front door - I know someone who was on the train, she is not at work (traumatised)

No-one has any idea exactly what happened, lets not jump to conclusions and condemn the driver of the car - he has a family too

They did cancel footie when Princess Di was killed, we were already on our way to Anfield and heard it on the radio that the game was off.

Crazy Horse will be sadly missed
