Default Ebay now madness, and possibly addictive?

Even s/h CDs, many auctions go over a tenner when the same cd is £9.78 in Asda, although classical cds can be bought for a fiver.....................the same price as many at HMV

but its the experience of looking for a car that brought this home to me.I decided on a 10 yr old diesel Clio, need one for 3 months, and tracked Ebay, auctions and private sales thorugh Autotrader, using their useful search facility (by distance,so i could go and see a few)

Ebay cars were going for between £650 and as high as £1100!! £300 at auction, and i got a guy down to £500 selling privately

Madness! I wonder whether its just the thrill, convenience, stupidity, addiction, whatever,th at causes this,or is that people are just so busy nowadays, and Ebay is easy? (admittedly i took a day of work to go to an auction, and i spent a lot of time trawling local ads and going to see cars)

Same for HIFI,a blagged a few bargains over the last few years, and recently dropped out of an auction for some speakers that went to 85% of retaila, and i found some others, sold in the small ads,for £400 (£1900)

and I sold an old ish phono stage for £45 becuase i didnt like it................but i bought it from HISpek for £40,with free delivery!!

some time on the web saves money on Ebay,i wonder when there is an Ebay counsellor appointed at the CAB

This is good news. I have a load of stuff to get rid of on EBay but was wary because it seemed to be a buyers market.
Only things I've ever bought are a Pioneer tuner for £40 (old, discontinued and coloured black like the rest of my kit, not bloody silver) and a Sun 10base5 network card for 99p (also no longer made)

I agree, some people bid over what the value of an item is new.

This week I saw an apple laptop going for over a grand when you can buy the same thing new, VAT & delivery included for 750.

What planet are these people on?

I find most vehicles don't fetch high prices on Ebay.

I wish people would pay over the odds for my stuff. I've made quite a few losses in the last 2 months.

Oh...and don't believe every auction you see, many of these high bids are from fraudsters.

You're not going to get many bids, mate LOL.

I think you might want to take another look at your starting price, unless there's some method there?

Oh and there's nothing like selling goods when you are fast asleep.

You take a look at your P900 in the morning and see just how much you have made during the time you were having a dream about womens mud wrestling.

eBay does rule.

Ebay can be crazy! I think they've made some clever moves with the website and terminology used by turning it into more of a competition than an auction. You no longer really 'buy' things on there, you 'win' them. People seem to pay over the odds for goods because they absolutely must win, buying on ebay becomes competitive and most people are not happy to be the loser.
