The Grudge
Has anyone heard much about this film ? The trailer looks pretty good, a little like The Ring in some parts. Is it the same director ?
Thinking of going and seeing this Friday night, been wanting a decent horror to come out for a while now. Hopefully this fits the bill.

Indeed, the grudge is a remake of a japanese film (in the same way as The Ring is a remake of Ringu).
Friend has seen it and says it's very good, a proper horror, as opposed to the usual gore filled non-horror type films over the last x years.
Sam Rami started up the studio that produced the grudge as he wants to start releasing more proper horror films.

Was going to see Saw (not at a playground!). Had some mixed feedback on it so thought I'd wait for it to come out on DVD. What did you make of it ?
Sort of horror film I enjoy is a supernatural one more than an all out gore fest. The Grudge looks right up my street, but the trailers can often be misleading. I didn't think that Gothika was all that good, but the trailer hooked me in.

The biggest thing I thought was it was very cleverly thought up. Someone has a very twisted mind

got the grudge last weekend from my local vid rental. the orginal jap version.
watched it late at night, on my own, with the lights out on my 7' screen
thought I'd be bricking myself after going to bed, but not at all. Boring, crap acting, predictable story, terrible special effects, and too much like the "ring" as well.
the bad thing even crawled exactly the same!
maybe sam raimi has improved it somewhat, but I'm not going to bother finding out
chris.

Sorry, a few days later I know, but have to agree with cw42 on this. Was disappointed with the film, and the acting was dire, esp from the main copper!!
Was too much like The Ring, except no where near as good imo. I managed to replicate the silly noise the woman makes though - great!!!
What p1sses me off is that pretty much all the scary bits are shown on the trailer for the movie, and you could guess when they were coming up a mile off!
