Question DVLC number plate scam: what happens in 2010?

Those of you who actually read my posts will know that I'm not a fan of the DVLC scam artists, who sell number plates to spell out various things, then prosecute those who alter the spacing to actaully spell whatever it is:mad;

But it occurs to me, what will happen to our numberplates when 2010 arrives?

At the mo, we have date identifiers (WHY?????? We are probably the only country in Europe to go down this odious road ) at, say 04, and again at 54, (why a 5??? There are 12 months in a year, so why not half that, and so a 6?? Cynical mode :ON..... Oh, sorry, I forgot, a 6 looks like no letter known to man or God, so couldn't be used to spell anything for extra revenue, whereas a 5................ Cynical mode: OFF)

But what will happen when 2010 arrives? Will we have, for example, XY 10 ABC, then XY 510 ABC?

XY10ABC and XY60ABC, then XY11ABC and XY61ABC.

The two digits are the last two digits of the year of issue, and the last two digits +50. This means the system is good for 50 years with no missing numbers (except 01 which coincided with Y).

Yup, it goes up to 60

It's odd, but it does work. They're not complete TO55ERS after all.

Never said they were, just thieves, scam artists, liars, truth twisters etc etc:

I find this funny, but don't you think it's not the dvlc scam artists that are thieves etc (ok I admit it's not particularly moral to encourage illegal spacing) but the people who actually spend all this cash on crappy plates that are the mugs??

If vain tossers didn't spend all their cash on the useless things then it wouldn't be an issue.

But no, people like wasting the money so they will continue to do it, why not cash in on peoples vanity/idiocy?

I'm thinking of chaning myname to W234 WAF so that I don't need to spend anymoney on a new plate.

That'd be Switzerland. (ZH549*** was mine)

In Holland you can date a car from the plate too, but I don't think there's a registration frenzy when it switches over. People just don't care that much.

Nowt wrong with my P**ETE numberplate thank you very much!!

It just proves I am one step above everyone else

AND I don't have to Fart about with spacings, screw caps, rounding edges - THAT is REALLY sad!! But buying a plate that says what it says without messing is coooooool!
