these new fangled 80's remixes......
there seems to be a few of these about, and to be honest I don't think they are up to much ( apart from the gusset-tastic video of course )
I reckon this would make a good un, any others??

Remixing and sampling old recordings is a pretty slack way of making money if you ask me.
Any "artist" with DJ or MC on their CV or in their name wants shooting.
All IMHO of course

maybe a bit of a cynical view, but I see where you are coming from, but to get an old tune and turn it into something that todays public will buy cannot be that straightforward.
anyway, what's wrong with MChammer????

Its been going on for years- its just commercially popular at the mo, hence loads of exposure.
As with everything, some good and some bad about. And some shocking crap too.
I have some cracking samples ive collected over the years from the 80s (and 60s and 70s)- soon to be unleashed.......

I reckon 50% of customers are people getting all nostalgic about the first release, 25% would buy anything by said artist and 25% will buy anything from the dance genre. I know what you're saying but I still think that it shows more talent to create something from scratch.

I love all this 80's style stuff - have you heard the new Kylie track, I believe in you? (scissor sisters produced) - very 80's!!
Some good ones at the moment are:
Linus Loves - Stand back
uniting nations - out of touch
armand van helden - hear my name

Yep let em loose freak! I agree partly with Jap it can be slack but I think it depends on how it's done, some are more creative than others but when you take whole sections of a song I think its a right rip-off! What is popular on the net and as occassionally shown on Q/MTV are 'mash-ups' matching bits of two songs together from diverse artists, there used to be one that mixed destiny's child bootylicious with nirvana's smells like teen spirit, all those are very well done IMHO
By the way if you like remixes and are a depeche mode fan you gotta check this out, picked it up yesterday and it's awesome http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...438869-4598238
