We had our first trick or treaters tonight!

I saw some going around our village. They were only about 5 years old with their mums and dads, which I don't mind! it's the lairy litlle buggers that need a shotgun pointing at them

The distance away from other humans is a great relief to them, I'm sure!

I have a simple rule about Hallowe'en - on 31st I go down the pub for the whole evening, and anyone turning up demanding sweets with menaces on any other night gets a remarkably short answer. Call me mean if you like, but I just don't 'get' the whole randomly-giving-presents-to-other-peoples'-kids thing.

That's OK if you've nothing outside that can be easily vandalised. I feel a lot safer now my car is locked safely away in a garage - the worst I'm likely to get is eggs or sh*t through the letter box, and at least that's not expensive. In previous years I've had to drive out to a pub instead so my car isn't an available target, and although any excuse to head down the pub is a good one IMHO, I still resent having to hide or leave my own home.

some of them don't have much sense of humour though,
i work in a shop and years ago a group came in trick or treating
afterwards i ask sooooo whos this under the mask, he takes the mask off
and i say eurgh put it back, put it back.
well i thought it was funny he was such a mardy ****
a week later he came in dressed up normal i said wooahhh thats a more ugly mask
strange i just realise i haven't seen him since

better still get a knife but ketchup on it, when trick or treaters come to the door open the door with one hand holding a knife
the other holding a kid (son/friend) whos got a mask on with ketchup on body
cool if before you open the door shout
"i'll kill all the trick or treaters haw haw haw"
