DONT LEAVE YOUR ADDRESS IN THE CAR
Just learnt that an Audi owner who had an attempted theft at Birmingham Airport was visited 3 weeks later by the same guys wearing balaclavas, and demanding the keys.
DONT LEAVE ANYTHING WITH YOUR HOME ADDRESS ON IT IN THE CAR

attempted theft at Birmingham Airport
I reckon by law of averages (only 500 users are on-line in this forum a day, so lets say 3000 different active users viewing this across the country) there must be at least a theft a day at Brum airport.
Was there last week, found a car with the bonnet up, was 4:00am no one to be seen. Nothing seemed amiss on the car. Car was just a shopping trolley (fiesta I think) which made it highly odd indeed.

Seriously - I alway put the address of the local plod on the tags. If anything goes missing I call them and let them know they might recieve an unexpected delivery. (Doesn't always go down to well over here )

good idea that.
you could make a game of it by guessing who to have your lost baggage sent to next year.
vets, crisp factory or even local ice rink.
seriously though, Im going to start doing that, its a good idea.

Friend of mine had an incident leaving the works car park. The car park concerned has a barrier which you must close and lock on leaving. You can see where this is going...
She drove the car through and got out to lock the gate. The car was unlocked with her bag inside. The car keys were in her hand with the padlock key. Guy appeared from nowhere and snatched the keys, jumped in the car and drove off.
Her bag contained a utility bill. A few nights later at about 2am, the thief appears at her house and tries to open the door with the keys. He makes some noise whilst fumbling for the key and luckily a neighbour disturbs him.
Moral of the story: be paranoid!

good reminder this!! will check the car for addresses and insert the address of someone I don't like..
a pita someone doing my car but take my address and come around and I risk ending up on a manslaughter / murder charge if someone threatens my family.
I hope you put the bonnet down and reported it?

Another tip to those with sat-nav ; don't program your actual home address into the "home" setting. Many reported cases of car keys being lifted, or even car jackings where the thieves then drive the vehicle straight to the home address guided by the sat-nav and empty the place. Best to program in somewhere a mile or two away from home, I'm sure you'll find your own way, but they won't.

DONT LEAVE YOUR ADDRESS IN THE CAR ...
... unless it's on a vets bill for inoculating three rottweilers.
... or the karate club membership form.
Good tip about the Satnav. Not that I have it
