Default DONT LEAVE YOUR ADDRESS IN THE CAR

Just learnt that an Audi owner who had an attempted theft at Birmingham Airport was visited 3 weeks later by the same guys wearing balaclavas, and demanding the keys.

DONT LEAVE ANYTHING WITH YOUR HOME ADDRESS ON IT IN THE CAR

Another tip is never fill in the reverse of ur holiday tags with ur home address,

Fill them in when ur packing to come home, as you never know who handles ur baggage at the Airport and all they have to do is note ur addy, down tell who ever, and bobs ur uncle u come back and u have been done

attempted theft at Birmingham Airport
That's another added to the 3 reported in general in the past 2 months
I reckon by law of averages (only 500 users are on-line in this forum a day, so lets say 3000 different active users viewing this across the country) there must be at least a theft a day at Brum airport.

Was there last week, found a car with the bonnet up, was 4:00am no one to be seen. Nothing seemed amiss on the car. Car was just a shopping trolley (fiesta I think) which made it highly odd indeed.

Dazza - is ur Y key broked?

Seriously - I alway put the address of the local plod on the tags. If anything goes missing I call them and let them know they might recieve an unexpected delivery. (Doesn't always go down to well over here )

good idea that.
you could make a game of it by guessing who to have your lost baggage sent to next year.
vets, crisp factory or even local ice rink.

seriously though, Im going to start doing that, its a good idea.

Good tip Diesel, robbers will use any bit of information for their own advantage these days. Frightening thought really.

Friend of mine had an incident leaving the works car park. The car park concerned has a barrier which you must close and lock on leaving. You can see where this is going...

She drove the car through and got out to lock the gate. The car was unlocked with her bag inside. The car keys were in her hand with the padlock key. Guy appeared from nowhere and snatched the keys, jumped in the car and drove off.

Her bag contained a utility bill. A few nights later at about 2am, the thief appears at her house and tries to open the door with the keys. He makes some noise whilst fumbling for the key and luckily a neighbour disturbs him.

Moral of the story: be paranoid!

good reminder this!! will check the car for addresses and insert the address of someone I don't like..

a pita someone doing my car but take my address and come around and I risk ending up on a manslaughter / murder charge if someone threatens my family.

I hope you put the bonnet down and reported it?

Another tip to those with sat-nav ; don't program your actual home address into the "home" setting. Many reported cases of car keys being lifted, or even car jackings where the thieves then drive the vehicle straight to the home address guided by the sat-nav and empty the place. Best to program in somewhere a mile or two away from home, I'm sure you'll find your own way, but they won't.

Doesnt really surprise me, Birmingham is a complete slum, with a lot of low life. Work mates car got broken into there.

No disrespect to anyone who lives in Brum tho - there are some nice suburbs surrounding it tho.

Lightbulb DONT LEAVE YOUR ADDRESS IN THE CAR ...

... unless it's on a vets bill for inoculating three rottweilers.
... or the karate club membership form.

Good tip about the Satnav. Not that I have it
