Question Mountain Bikers: Specialized Stumpjumper?

I'm looking at buying a Specialized Stumpjumper Comp 2004 - having had good Google about, the best price I can find is £1199.99 (rrp: £1399.99) from http://www.evanscycles.com

Can any of you guys suggest where I'd be able to find it for cheaper? I wasn't really wanting to spend more than £1k (unlikely, I know...)

And does it have to be 2004? I know of a 2003 for sale - not mine - for around half the amount you're looking to pay.

ring them up and offer them a grand for it then.

its an 04 model and the 05's will be coming out VERY shortly. plus sales will be slowing down due to it being fall now anyways.

if they dont accept your £1k offer now, they most likely will when the 05 models do come out in about a month or so.

altho personally my £1k would have gone on a marin rocky ridge

Quality bike - good choice!

Agrre with the above. 05 bikes will be here in no time and these boys - Evans included - will be dropping their pants before too long.

Cheers

Thanks for the replies

I'm based on the Wirral, so am close to both Liverpool and Chester.

Mr Moose () - could you please e-mail me with details of where I could buy the 2003?

Speak to Dave @ Maclaines in Wolverhampton 01902 716786

Not sure whether he'll have any in stock, or at what price, but I reckon he'd negotiate if you could point him in the direction of decent low mileage Classic Wagon Turbo for about £7k... TBH its a long shot but maybe worth a try

Got a Thule 3 bike rack on my R32. Good solid rack, can still open hatch with it on, carries my Rock Lobster Tig Team SL and Bianchi Gold Race 600 safely - tested at up to 100mph (on track, of course )

LOL

I was going to get the Ti but my girlfriend couldn't justify it

Still trying to get her to agree to me getting a Trek Madone 5.9 road bike, but she says I can't have one until i've earned it
