Thanks for all your Good Wishes
Thanks everyone for all your good wishes a little over a month ago. Steve and I were being pi$$ed about something rotten regarding our house move. We just kept getting bad news after bad news and all due to one stupid plonker at the bottom of our chain. Even down to the very day of the move, we actually travelled 100 miles north to our new house to discover the monies had not transferred.
Luckily, our vendor allowed us to place our belongings into the house but not ourselves! We did likewise with our buyers.
Next day, unbeknown to me, there was a further "last minute hitch". But at last at 12.35 we got the keys.
I tell you, I would rather wing walk a Harrier than ever go through all that again. From initially having the 29th July as a completion date, we went to the 2nd August, to the 10th to the 11th and then after a night on someone's floor finally moved in on the 12th of August. Thanks for the good luck you all sent us........... we obviously needed every scrap of it.
Cheers .
PS. We have been advised to sue the party at the root of all this trouble , but being a believer in Karma, I'm sure he'll get "his" at some point in the not too distant future.

Same thing happened to us, makes you wonder why you pay the solictor so much doesn`t it, after all he/she is the one that is supposed to make sure everything is in place.
Glad your finally in though, hope it soon starts to feel like 'home'.

My parents' move went something like that. You were spared their coup de grace. On Thursday 16 Oct 1987, at 4.30pm, they got a phone call saying that the money had FINALLY been received from the buggers messing them about and put into the system to transfer to the seller, and they could move off Grandma's floor and into the house the next morning when the money came through.
Michael Fish remembers that date quite well, I believe.
One big hurricane, no power to most of the South of England, and the banking system in chaos. Not quite sure where the money had gone....
They got it, but then took two days to cut through enough trees to get to the end of the drive, and then three more weeks before gas, electricity and phones were restored.
It was hell, but it was worth it
All the best, hope you enjoy your new home!

Hi Apparition. Glad you are sorted out.
I'm going through similar situation, including a letter from my solicitor incorrectly telling me purchaser had pulled out!
Currently purchaser's surveyor is wanting a wall replastered before exchange of contracts!
It's the smallest house I've sold and is taking most trouble!
Best wishes in your new home!!!

Thanks guys....... and all the best to those just embarking upon this treacherous journey.
Yes it is already feeling like home. Esoteric Beast has transformed the previously plain study into a dark, gothic den, I'm transforming the living room into a vibrant but chilled environment and other rooms will follow.
Best thing we did to celebrate our arrival... we treated ourselves to a 42" plasma Tv...wow....... the local kids kept walking past to have a nosey. Its awesome. Helps us forget the nasty bit.
And to put the icing on the cake.... maybe, just maybe, a Scooby will soon be returning to our fold.!!

"We need a TV. How about a two grand one?"
"You must be kidding, what's wrong with a £500 one? And leave us £1500 for essential other stuff!"
But...
"We've just spent two hundred thousand on a house, how about a couple more grand to make a great living room?"
"Sure, great idea!"
