Bob

I've got the Medion one (Dazza01 off here got it for me) I was trying to get it from Aldi for £170.00 but as you would expect they were all gone so Dazza got it price matched by Halfrauds

I think for the price i paid i got a #1 bargain It does everything regarding SatNav and they're voice commands are clear and well timed, i even have the accident blackspots programmed in (gatsos)

TBH i would of paid the £299.00 for it as its still a good deal

I've noticed that other "budget" PDA/SatNav kits are available all the time from Makro

IMO if you just want the "budget" one that has satnav then dont pay over £300.00 as Makro have them for around £275.00 but then are they as good as the Medion

If you're looking to add the gatso files, then do your homework because some of the nav programs don't support this feature.

Be aware you need to upgrade the firmware in the TT Go to make use of the speed camera POIs. you also need to delete some of the voices off the 128meg SD card to fit the new firmware on. still a great piece of kit.

cheers

Smile SatNav

Hi - I'm a new scooby owner and have the Navman SmartST Version 2 - does anyone know if you can get speed trap detector software/add on for it, or would it have to be a separate unit? Also, am thinking of an external arial for it as my Impreza as it does not appear to receive GPS signal through the screen. Is this a normal problem please? Like your site, very interesting! Thanks a lot for any help anyone could give.

Are you sure the gps reciever has power. I know that mine needed to be charged first as it has a battery back up. This needs to be charged before you use it.

In mine, it just meant i left it plugged in with the ignition on one turn to enable the flashing light and charger at the cigarette lighter.

Go to the pocketgps website (Scooby-Doo's link a few posts above) to find all the software for speed trap (gatso) sites

Thanks so much for your help everyone, yes it was fully powered! Have ordered an external antenna and visited the sites you suggest for gatso, sorted, thanks a lot! Much appreciated.

Hi matron22 no the navman v2 does not support active POI but the new V3 software out next month does and I have already successfully imported the camera database from the pocketgps website into my Navman PiN using the V3 software, I have it as I am a tester here in Germany for navman.

The v3 software is great, wait till next month then contact navman about an upgrade you won't regret it.
