How to get telephone access points in other rooms?
Need a telephone point in a bedroom. Thought it already had one but turns out the points are for other lines the previous owners had so absolutely useless to me now.
What I need is to get an access point for my existing phone line.
How is the easiest way to do this? Do I need to get BT in to do it? Is it just another piece of DIY I know nothing about and actually not that difficult to do? Can the existing points for the dead lines be reused for my existing line?
Advice needed TIA

Well the problem is that the existing connection point is in the front room by the front door. So I would need to run a cable up the stairs along the landing and into the bedroom which would look messy so wanted just another access point on the wall just like any normal phone access point.

Sorry guys should have said its for adsl and computer connections so needs to be a physical presence. I don't want to plug in a wireless router in the lounge telephone point as it will look out of place for one and then wil have to buy wirelss cards for all the pcs so not an option for downstairs.

Fitting another point can be done DIY. Just a matter of buying some 6 core twisted pair telephone cable, a slave telephone wall socket and an insertion tool.
Just simply a matter of running the cable where you want it to go.
You only need to connect 3 wires at each end (the other three are redundent)
Blue/white stripe = Terminal 2
White/Bluestripe = Terminal 5
Orange/white stripe = Terminal 3
Use the insertion tool to push the wires into the connection block.

Yep that would work as where I want it is the bedroom directly above where the existing point is. I just don't know how to run it back outside and up the wall or through the ceiling etc. I have no idea about DIY, electical stuff etc (basically put off doing anything due to the very high probability of making a total pigs ear of it )

no drill - are you a man or a mouse?
You might be better paying someone 50 quid to do it right. If you fek up the wiring your broadband will be much slower. (I paid someone 50 quid to fek up the wiring and then fixed it myself, cos I couldn't see the need for about 12 connections)

LOL I use a hammer and a screwdriver if I need a hole made
Yeah I would like it done properly, just need to find someone to do it! Probably my uncle who is an electician and alarm specialist so pretty good with wiring up houses - I just don't ever speak to him so bit of an issue that one! Thats why I wondered if BT do it, but they will probably charge a fortune.

They quoted me £190.00. Guy from alarm company did it for 50, but he daisychained 5 telephone points, with the PC connection at the end. Every time the phone rang or someone walked past an alarm sensor the net disappeared. I ran a cable from the master to the office and have had no issues since

What I want to know is how the existing points upstairs are cabled. If I could follow them up from where they come into the property then surely that would make it all a lot easier for me to do? Also I dont want these extra lines so can BT take them away for free?

The services seem to charge incredible amounts to do thing like that these days, our local water co. wanted to charge £15K to run a pipe across a field to connect an elderly lady's house to the mains. I think we will stay on well water!
Those other points should be cabled up B2Z, it may just be a matter of changing wire connections inside a master connection point to get a different line onto your own single line. Should not be a problem after that if you can do it. Just got to find the connection point which might be inside or outside your house.

Well cheers folks, I got it sorted, now typing this from the desktop pc in the bedroom
Found an access point in the master bedroom that was hidden, bought an extension cable and have run it under the carpet to the other bedroom where the pcs are and all works fine
