Another spider question (the common house spider)...
What could I use in my house to make very large house spiders p!ss off and leave my property?
I have no problem with normal size spiders (little ones!) but I object to sitting watching telly and having a house spider thats got a bigger span than the top of my pint glass sit there on the floor/wall looking at me and its not paying rent!
I don't want to kill them, not necessary but would like to stop them from inhabiting my lounge and bedroom on a permanent basis. The mrs has found 3 of the bu66ers and just left them as she doesn't mind them but last night when I got in she goes theres one of your little friends behind the sofa, so I pulled the sofa out and one just small enough to get in my pint glass was sitting on the wall Despatched him to the drain in the road pronto but she said he was the smallest one so far, the others are much bigger
I want rid of them but the bloody house bunnies nor my rats are interested in eating them, they just look at them and walk off
If I come across one thats too quick for me to get in glass/too big for the glass then until I come up with a harmless solution the next one is getting shot with the bb gun
I don't think i'd have such an issue with them if they didn't have huge fangs or the fact they are actually the most venimous spider on the planet, knowing my luck i'd pick one up that had evolved strong enough fangs to break my skin and do me in
How do you deal with such evil nasties in your house?
Oh and also got a multitude of different ones in the garden, not as big in terms of span but much bigger bodies and are a brown/yellow colour - what are they? They look even worse than the house spider and the bastads keep webbing over my front door so every time I open the door first thing in the morning I get one staring me right in the face waiting for me - its like being in that Indiana Jones scene with the mahoooosive spider webs everytime I open the door!

Honestly, you should embrace your house guests warmly, not run around shrieking like a girl!
Regular cleaning of nooks and crannies, behind furniture etc. will uproot the house spiders as they like quiet corners where they can set up shop! After a while you will notice their numbers decrease.
I get a lot of harvest spiders where I live:
They are quite amusing because when they feel threatened they gyrate really quickly and turn into a blur in their web to try and confuse a would-be predator!
The brown/yellow spiders sound interesting, can you get a pic? Probably common garden spiders, they come in slightly varying colours!

I went to sit on my chair on the living room the other night and just as I sat down this shadow moved across the floor from under the chair. I almost jumped out of the chair, not in a girly kinda way :embarrassment: but in a "what was that" kinda way. I looked down at the spider and I swear it only had 4 legs, one in each corner not 4 front and no rear or vice versa. The spider walked off under the telly and I returned to my beer, panic over.
