Women and mates
Read on another thread the comment "Women come and go but your mates are there for life"
Just really wondered how true that works out in real life.. now obviously i'm not really old enough to comment on these matters.
But i am curious as to peoples opinions who are a bit older. Has your women outlived all of your mates?? Or do you all keep in good regular contact with your old mates...
People who are married maybe and around 40 years old... Is your wife your best friend? Or are there still others who you see regularly??

Well I left school and made new friends at college. My friends at college moved on to Uni so I made friends at work and down the local.
I moved jobs and made friends there. I then moved down to Wiltshire and made friends at new work, new area new pub etc. You get the picture.
I have kept in contact with 1 or maybe 2 people from each new place. So one college friend, one from my first job, two or three from where I lived, 1 from the next job and so on.
If I moved from here I'd probably keep in touch with 2-3 people form a phone full of about 20.
Some people make friends for life, but in my experience as you grow older your interests change, standard of living changes and so on. My old friends are really just for reminising(sp?) and having a beer with when I go back home(excuse for a lad's on the p1ss session)

lol - Maybe its the other way round??
I was thinking of a particular friend who at 34 years old still rents a room off a mate, his wages are maily used to go down the pub, to the football and Faliraki once a year.
He is a nice bloke but either does n't have any ambition or drive, or maybe hasn't had the breaks in life.
TBH I rarely see him as we have nothing in common, apart from the fact that 10-12 years ago we were both doing the same things.
Maybe standard of living changes is the wrong phrase, more the fact people move on.
